Join now >Kerryon Johnson becomes Lions’ first 100-yard rusher since Thanksgiving 2013.
The rookie running back split work evenly with veteran LeGarrette Blount, as they both received 16 carries and two receptions in the win over New England, but Johnson outperformed Blount on the ground, showing his smoothness and vision throughout the night. Johnson gained 101 yards on his 16 carries and added nine yards on his two receptions. The second-rounder is just incredibly smooth out there, and he has a knack for picking up positive yardage. Johnson broke the five-year streak, and he should have many more 100-yard rushing performances throughout his career. It was cool to see his teammates congratulate and celebrate Johnson breaking the streak. He’ll look to keep it going next week against the Cowboys and is in the FLEX conversation.

Antonio Gates caught three passes for 45 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Rams.
Gates had a really good matchup against the other Los Angeles team, but Mike Williams surprisingly did most of the damage in the passing game with 81 yards and two scores. We would avoid the veteran tight end against the stingy 49ers in Week 4.

Marvin Jones scores in win over the Patriots.
Jones caught four passes for 69 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown reception on an easy deep crossing route to beat Stephon Gilmore, who was expecting safety help. The 28-year-old came into the night with a questionable tag for an ankle injury, but he started and played well in an upset victory. Detroit’s passing attack has been able to sustain production from three wideouts so far, and there’s no reason to believe it won’t continue against the Cowboys next Sunday. Jones is a quality WR2/FLEX option.

Mike Williams scores twice in 35-23 loss to the Rams.
Williams caught four passes for 81 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown catch over two defenders in the first quarter and another 20-yard score in the second half. Fantasy owners were probably avoiding the 2017 first-round pick in a difficult matchup, but he looks to be quickly emerging into a star with lines of 5/81, 2/27/1, and 4/81/2 to start the season. Williams is a FLEX option with great scoring upside against the 49ers (sans Richard Sherman) next Sunday.

Matthew Stafford plays well and leads the Lions to their first win of the season.
Stafford operated a balanced offensive attack that kept the Patriots off the field for much of the game, and he went 27/36 for 262 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception along with one carry for ten yards. The first score was to Kenny Golladay on a drag route in which Stafford slinged it sidearm past a defender putting his arms up; and the second was to Marvin Jones on a deep ball for 33 yards. The interception was on a pass intended for Luke Willson that he fired right to Ja’Whaun Bentley, but it might have been a big gain if Stafford lofted the pass. Overall, it was a solid game to help Matt Patricia get his first win as a head coach. Stafford faces his home-state Cowboys team next weekend and will be in the QB1 mix.

Michael Gallup catches one pass in Week 3.
Gallup gained 17 yards on his lone reception, but he also had a pass intended for him that was deflected and intercepted by the Seahawks. It wasn’t an easy catch in tight coverage for the rookie, but it’s one he should have made. None of Dallas’ pass catchers are recommended fantasy options right now.

Phillip Dorsett held without a reception in 26-10 loss against the Lions.
Dorsett was targeted early with a contested drop that would have gone for no gain and then a misfire by Tom Brady on a would-be first down. Later, he had no chance of making a play on the ball as the target on Tom Brady’s deep interception. The speedster should bounce back in Week 4 with a start against the Dolphins before Julian Edelman teams up with Josh Gordon alongside Chris Hogan in the starting lineup.
