Join now >The Raiders placed Chris Warren on injured reserve.
The undrafted rookie running back is dealing with an undisclosed injury, and this placement on IR could have been so the Raiders ensure they did not lose him to another team on waivers. Warren impressed during the preseason.

Cardale Jones has cleared waivers and is signing with the Chargers practice squad, according to Ian Rapoport.
Jones was released after originally making the team’s 53-man roster, but he will now get to stay in Los Angeles to develop behind Philip Rivers and Geno Smith. The former Ohio State star is still mobile with a huge arm, so hopefully he unlocks his potential on the practice squad.

Charcandrick West was released by the Jets.
West, who was released by Kansas City this summer, had a tough task making the Jets’ 53-man roster after arriving late. The versatile running back should land someplace else soon.

Mack Hollins (groin) did not participate in practice today.
Hollins had been nursing the injury through the preseason, and this doesn’t bode well for his Week 1 status. It’s a shame, as the second-year wideout would have a prime opportunity to make an impact with Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) also sidelined. Right now, Hollins is just a name to keep in mind playing on an explosive offense.

The Jets waived Chad Hansen.
The second-year receiver wasn’t able to separate himself in a receiving group that added players and had others (like Quincy Enunwa) get healthy this year. Hansen could land on the practice squad if another team doesn’t claim him.

The Jets officially named Sam Darnold their starting quarterback.
Darnold will be under-center one week from tonight when the Jets face the Lions on Monday Night Football, and the former USC star will be the youngest starting quarterback (21 years, 97 days) in Week 1 since the NFL/AFL merger in 1970. Darnold immediately impressed throughout the summer and preseason, and his quick progression and readiness allowed the franchise to roll with their guy to start his NFL career. Josh McCown will be one of the league’s best backups behind the rookie. Because the supporting cast isn’t great, Darnold isn’t a highly-reccomended QB1 option quite yet, but he’s a solid QB2 option to open the year.

The Cardinals activated Jermaine Gresham (Achilles) off the PUP.
This is good news, as the veteran tight end won’t be forced to miss the first six games of the season. He appears a long shot for Week 1 at this point, but we should see Gresham back on the field within the first several weeks after his torn Achilles suffered in the season finale last year.
