Join now >Ty Montgomery has a foot injury.
The Packers announced the injury, but gave no more information. It’s unclear when the injury returned or if Montgomery will return to the game. Most offensive starters did not play for the Packers, including Jamaal Williams, so Montgomery appears to be second or third on the depth chart right now. Montgomery was also returning kicks for Green Bay.

Tre’Quan Smith is reportedly “in a great position to get on the field” this season.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated says he saw the third-round rookie receiver make a “circus catch” at Saints practice and was “assured that was no isolated incident.” With Cameron Meredith coming off a very serious knee injury from last summer, Smith might immediately be a top-three receiver for the Saints along with Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn. In dynasty leagues in particular, Smith needs to be watched closely. It’ll be interesting to see how much time he gets with the first team in this week’s third preseason game.

Update: Kalen Ballage is still in concussion protocol.
Ballage is in full uniform for tonight’s preseason game against the Ravens, but he’s still in concussion protocol, which is a bit odd. Given his presence on the sideline in full pads, the rookie running back could be close to getting cleared. Perhaps he’ll play in the preseason finale next week.

Luke Willson (knee) is out for the rest of tonight’s preseason game.
While Willson wasn’t a big part of the passing game tonight, he’s been listed as the team’s starting tight end. Hopefully the team is just being cautious with Willson, but we should get an update sometime this weekend.

Joe Williams (ribs) is out until at least Week 1.
Williams is dealing with a rib fracture, so he’s out for the rest of the preseason. Unfortunately, this might be enough that the second-year back, who was a favorite of head coach Kyle Shanahan’s during the 2017 draft, is pushed out of the mix on the 53-man roster. Williams hasn’t been able to take advantage of Jerick McKinnon and Matt Breida both being out with injuries.

Kalen Ballage has cleared the concussion protocol and is in uniform for the Dolphins’ third preseason game.
Ballage was in the protocol during the week so his status was in doubt against the Ravens, but it looks like we will get our first look at Miami’s backfield with the rookie possibly rotating in behind Kenyan Drake and Frake Gore. It could be difficult for Ballage to make a big impact early in the season, but his upside makes him a worthy late-round flier behind the co-starters.
