Odell Beckham Jr. | Free Agent WR

Odell Beckham Jr. doesn’t get much going in Week 1.

Beckham had three receptions for 22 yards against the Ravens to open the 2020 season. The matchup was very tough, but Baker Mayfield simply continues to struggle early in his NFL career despite a promising rookie campaign, and the connection with OBJ has yet to get going. This was just one game, though, and Cleveland will look to find success on Thursday night after a quick turnaround.

Nick Chubb | Free Agent RB

Nick Chubb gets 11 touches in Week 1.

Chubb had just ten carries for 60 yards and one reception for six yards in the Browns’ blowout loss to the Ravens. Meanwhile, Kareem Hunt had 17 touches (13 carries for 72 yards and four receptions for nine yards). This could be seen as a positive that Chubb didn’t get much work in a blowout with a Thursday night matchup on deck, but there’s been obvious cause for concern after Cleveland extended Hunt before the season. Still, Chubb is too good of a player not to get fed the ball more consistency in close games. Expect more touches and a bounce-back performance for the third-year star running back against the Bengals to kickoff Week 2.

Antonio Gibson | Patriots RB

Antonio Gibson gets 11 touches in NFL debut.

Gibson had nine carries for 36 yards and two receptions for eight yards in Washington’s Week 1 victory versus the Eagles. Philadelphia is stout up front defensively, so there wasn’t a ton of room to navigate for Washington’s runners; but Gibson ran the ball hard and showed glimpses of his versatility. Peyton Barber (17 carries, 29 yards, two touchdowns) led the backfield, though, and the immediate workhorse workload many were expecting for Gibson might not come for at least a few weeks. For now, Gibson is just a FLEX option in fantasy lineups.

Dallas Goedert | Eagles TE

Dallas Goedert leads Eagles in Week 1 receiving.

Goedert caught eight passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in Philadelphia’s Week 1 loss to Washington. The Eagles have indicated they are extremely high on Goedert, and the two-tight-end sets worked well for them to open the season. Goedert might be a volatile play this season (Zach Ertz will typically lead the tight end position but had just three receptions for 13 yards and a score in the opener), but you could do worse in your TE spot in fantasy lineups given Carson Wentz’s comfort targeting the tight end position.

9/14/20 - 08:15 AM ET

Davante Adams | Rams WR

Davante Adams gets fed the ball in Week 1.

Adams caught 14 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns, including a smooth toe-tapping catch in the end zone on a deep ball and another on a quick out at the goal line. As expected entering the year, Adams is going to get a ton of targets from Aaron Rodgers. Adams is obviously a matchup-proof WR1 with as much touchdown potential as any receiver in football.

9/14/20 - 08:12 AM ET

Aaron Rodgers | Free Agent QB

Aaron Rodgers torches the Vikings to open the year.

Rodgers was 32/44 for 364 yards and four touchdowns against a revamped Minnesota secondary that allows a number of chunk plays down the field. Rodgers threw the ball extremely well both inside and outside of the pocket all afternoon, looking about as sharp as ever as he begins his age-36 campaign. Keep in mind Green Bay did have offensive explosions like this last year, and the Vikings are going to need some time to figure things out defensively this season, but this is obviously a great sign for Rodgers. The future Hall of Fame quarterback is undoubtedly on a mission this season after the Packers drafted his replacement in the first round of this year’s draft.

9/14/20 - 08:10 AM ET

Josh Allen | Bills QB

Josh Allen carries Bills offense in Week 1 victory.

Allen threw the ball 46 times for a career-high 312 yards and two touchdowns on 33 completions, and he also carried the ball 14 times for 57 yards and a touchdown, accounting for a large percentage of Buffalo’s offense to open the year. Despite front-running the entire game after jumping to a 14-0 lead, the Bills put the ball into Allen’s hands as a passer instead of running the ball against a tough Jets front. Allen did have two lost fumbles, but it should be learning experience for him after he showed he knows how to cut down on the interceptions last year. The third-year quarterback could be poised to have a monster season. Allen next faces a Dolphins team that just allowed to rushing scores to Cam Newton and a team he’s had major success against in the past.
