Join now >Matt LaCosse is opting out of the 2020 NFL season.
LaCosse is the eighth Patriot player to opt of the season thus far, and New England has arguably taken by far the biggest hit of any team due to COVID-19 opt outs. LaCosse’s contract with New England will toll into next year.

The Browns placed Jarvis Landry (hip) on the active/PUP list.
Cleveland announced that Landry “continues to work his way back from offseason hip surgery and remains on schedule in his recovery.” There is some concern regarding the veteran receiver’s Week 1 status, but hopefully there’s more clarity on his situation before most people hold their fantasy drafts late this month and into September.

T.Y. Hilton (hamstring) is opening camp in the Active/NFI list, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Pelissero says he “should be fine” and it’s a “mild” injury from training, but it highlights that durability could be an issue for Hilton in his age-30/31 season. The upside will still make T.Y. worth selecting in the early-mid rounds of fantasy drafts this summer.

David Njoku remains committed to the Browns after multiple meetings with the organization, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Njoku had previously requested a trade because the new regime—led by general manager Andrew Berry—signed Austin Hooper to a big contract and drafted Harrison Bryant, but it sounds like the former first-round pick will be on the roster in 2020. The expectation has been that Cleveland will run plenty of 12 personnel, so this news is more evidence of that. Njoku is a borderline top-30 option at the position based on talent, but he will be fighting several players for targets on a run-first offense.

The Lions have placed Matthew Stafford on the Reserve/COVID list.
Stafford joins Marvin Jones and T.J. Hockenson as notable weapons on the list for Detroit. Hopefully the league is able to keep everyone healthy as August rolls forward, especially based on the recent issues for the MLB.

The Jaguars placed James O’Shaughnessy (knee) on the PUP list.
O’Shaughnessy is coming off a season-ending knee injury in 2019, so this isn’t a surprise. O’Shaughnessy can be taken off the PUP at any time.

The Bengals signed Brandon Allen.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has familiarity with Allen from their time together in Los Angeles with the Rams, so this is an ideal fit in a COVID-impacted summer. Allen could help No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow get a hang of the Cincinnati offense, and he’s a steady hand as a potential backup.
