Cole Beasley | Free Agent WR

The Bills have placed Cole Beasley (back) on the Active/NFI list.

It’s unclear how Beasley was injured, but he will miss the start of camp. Fortunately, the veteran already has good chemistry with Josh Allen, so his absence shouldn’t be a huge deal if it doesn’t linger.

Damien Williams | Free Agent RB

Damien Williams is opting out of the 2020 season.

Williams is making the decision out of safety for his family according to a statement from the organization, and the opt out opens the door for first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire to be an immediate stud as Kansas City’s starter. There might be some concerns about COVID-19’s impact on a rookie, but running backs have an easier transition, and the Chiefs could field a playground attack on offense. CEH has high-end RB1 potential.

Cameron Brate | Free Agent TE

Cameron Brate had COVID-19 and has recovered.

Brate is urging people that have recovered from the coronavirus to donate plasma to help others recover from the virus. It’s good to hear that Brate is fully recovered, and there is prominent thought that you cannot be re-infected with COVID-19 once you already have it, so the tight end could potentially be safe from missing any time during the season due to catching the virus.

Will Hastings | Free Agent WR

The Patriots re-signed Will Hastings.

Hastings was just cut recently, but he’s being brought back quick presumably with roster space opened up with some Patriots players opting out of the season today. The undrafted rookie receiver has chemistry with former college teammate Jarrett Stidham, and he’s someone to watch long-term as a guy that can play in the slot and perform on special teams. Hastings walked on to Auburn as a kicker, so he’s come a long way as he looks to contribute to an NFL roster as a receiver.

Corey Davis | Free Agent WR

The Titans placed Corey Davis on the PUP list.

It’s unclear what Davis is dealing with, but he can be taken off the PUP list at any time. His Week 1 doesn’t appear to be in any jeopardy, but ideally he’ll get cleared soon in a contract year with the Titans relying on him as a No. 2 receiver behind A.J. Brown.

7/28/20 - 05:38 PM ET

Devin Funchess | Free Agent TE

Devin Funchess has opted out of the 2020 NFL season, according to multiple reports.

To this point, Funchess might be the biggest name among offensive skill position players to opt out of the upcoming season due to COVID-19. The Packers were looking for the big receiver to emerge as a strong perimeter weapon for Aaron Rodgers after signing him during free agency. Funchess’ contract will toll over to next season. Unfortunately, he essentially missed all of last season with injury, so Funchess will have not seen extensive action for a couple of years when he hits the field in 2021. The good news is that Funchess will turn just 27 years old next offseason.

7/28/20 - 05:31 PM ET

Deebo Samuel | Commanders WR

The 49ers placed Deebo Samuel on the non-football injury list.

This was fully expected, and the non-football injury list basically just means Samuel was injured not during an official NFL practice or game after he broke his foot working out alone earlier this year. Samuel himself is unsurprisingly optimistic that he’ll be ready for Week 1, but the team is taking a cautious approach with their dynamic second-year receiver. Hopefully there’s clarity on Samuel’s early-season status by the time most fantasy drafts occur.
