Join now >Greg Olsen and the Panthers have agreed to mutually part ways.
Olsen and general manager Marty Hurney met today and agreed they would move in different directions despite the Pro Bowl tight end being under contract for 2020. Olsen is interested in continuing his career if the right opportunity comes along, but he’ll be a favorite to take a television job if he does not find a fit this offseason. The Patriots are one team that immediately comes to mind as a potential partner for Olsen if he continues his career. Olsen had 524 receptions for 6,462 yards and 39 touchdowns in nine seasons with Carolina, and he was remarkably consistent until injuries hit the past three seasons, becoming the first tight end to hit 1,000 yards receiving in three consecutive seasons (2014-2016).

Mitchell Trubisky had left shoulder surgery.
This is stemming from Trubisky’s left shoulder injury (a partially torn labrum) the forced him to miss action last season. Because this is to Trubisky’s non-throwing shoulder, the procedure should be relatively minor. He should be ready at some point during offseason training (if not at the very beginning) as he approaches a critical fourth NFL season.

The Chargers have “moved on” from Philip Rivers, according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer.
Glazer was on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” and made this statement, which has been the expectation for weeks now. Rivers will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and he recently moved his family from California to Florida on a permanent basis. The former No. 4 overall pick in the 2004 draft played 16 seasons for San Diego/Los Angeles, and he had a ton of success, throwing for 59,271 yards and 397 touchdowns (compared to 198 interceptions). The lone thing missing for Rivers with the Chargers was a Super Bowl appearance, but he was named to eight Pro Bowls and won Comeback Player of the Year in 2013, and he’ll always be remembered by the Chargers fans for playing on a torn ACL against the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game in 2008. Starting in 2006, Rivers had an active streak of 224 consecutive starts for the Chargers (fifth longest streak in history). The 38-year-old will almost certainly be in the mix for a starting job in free agency, and some have speculated that Tampa Bay could be a fit. Los Angeles could roll with former Bills starter Tyrod Taylor at quarterback, but they could also be in the mix for someone else during free agency and/or the draft.

Tevin Coleman (shoulder) went through walkthrough today.
Coleman received positive results from his MRI and appears to be trending in the right direction following his dislocated shoulder suffered last Sunday, and we would be surprised if he isn’t able to play in Super Bowl LIV, as the electric running back will certainly be doing everything he can to get out there as he looks to get his first ring. We’ll track Coleman’s practice status next week.

Kareem Hunt apparently pulled over for speeding, weed found in car.
There were conflicting reports surrounding Hunt’s situation, with some saying it was his father that was pulled over. It appears it was indeed the talented running back, though, and he was cited only for speeding and not the marijuana—Hunt reportedly claimed the weed was his brother’s and not his. This could turn out to be nothing, but it’s not a good look for Hunt considering his past. While the former league-leading rusher is a dynamic player, the Browns would probably be wise not to bring Hunt back to a backfield mix that has star runner Nick Chubb leading the way.

Antonio Brown has been released from jail.
There was initially not expected to be bond for Brown to get released following his arrest, but according to ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe, Brown was in a “lengthy back-and-forth hearing” and was granted bail. Brown can be released on $100,000 bond, and he will need to get GPS monitoring, relinquish his passport and guns, go through drug testing, and get a mental health evaluation. Hopefully this situation is a wake-up call for Brown before his situation gets any worse than it already has.

Antonio Brown has turned himself in to jail, according to multiple reports.
Brown had a warrant out for his arrest and previously locked himself in his house, so this is at least a good first step for any outside chance of career redemption (or more importantly, getting his life together). The former All-Pro receiver is facing charges of felony burglary and battery.
