Join now >The Raiders released Doug Martin with an injury settlement.
It’s surprising it took this long for Martin to get let go off injured reserve by Oakland, but he’s now free to sign with any team as an unrestricted free agent. The Chargers could be a potential fit as Melvin Gordon’s holdout continues, but Martin isn’t a recommended fantasy pickup yet.

Robby Anderson (calf) is officially active against the Bills.
Anderson was listed as questionable after he was limited in practice during the week, but he’s ready to go for the Jets’ season opener. Consider Anderson a boom/bust FLEX option for Week 1 against Tre’Davious White and company.

The Packers placed Jace Sternberger on injured reserve.
Sternberger is dealing with an ankle issue, but it’s surprising he’s been placed on IR. The third-round rookie tight end can come back from injured reserve in eight weeks as a designated-to-return player, but he’s off the redraft radar for now. This could be a slight boost for Jimmy Graham’s value.

Adrian Peterson is officially inactive for Week 1.
This was reportedly going to be the case, and now it’s official as the Redskins roll with Derrius Guice as the clear leader in the backfield. Hurting Peterson’s status is the fact that he doesn’t contribute on special teams, but it’s still surprising that a 1,000-yard rusher from last season (and the team’s offensive MVP) is not playing to open the season. Some veterans for Washington are reportedly unhappy with AD not being active, so it’s an interesting situation to watch moving forward.

The Bengals are signing Giovani Bernard to a two-year extension, according to Tom Pelissero.
Bernard will reportedly get $10.3 million over two seasons, and he’s now locked up through the 2021 season. The contract is basically starter’s money, so this could mean Joe Mixon—while clearly the featured back—might not be the workhorse fantasy owners want him to be this season. It also could mean Bernard is used more in a receiving role (perhaps on the field with Mixon) and may have more standalone fantasy value than anticipated.

Tyler Kroft (foot) is officially out for the Bills.
Kroft was listed as doubtful entering today’s Week 1 matchup with the Jets, so this was fully expected. Kroft was able to practice during the week, so he should have a good chance to return to the field pretty soon.

The Buccaneers have signed Jordan Leggett to the practice squad.
Leggett had a difficult path to making the team behind O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate, but he’ll be in a good spot to continue developing with the Bucs. The former Clemson standout is still just entering his age-24 season.
