WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Ladarius Green | Free Agent TE

The Steelers have released tight end Ladarius Green.

This is a bit of a surprise. Unfortunately, Green has battled injuries including concussions throughout his career, but he was very productive when on the field last season. He just signed a four-year, $20 million contract with the Steelers last offseason when he was a free agent. Green, assuming he's healthy, should be able to find another team that would love the opportunity to sign him. Jesse James will be the clear number one tight end for the Steelers this season, as long as they don't make a trade for one before the season.

Steelers will bring Ladarius Green back in 2017, says GM Kevin Colbert

According to Joe Rutter, Colbert said that Green will be back with the team next season, but has to pass his physical. In limited action in his first year with the Steelers, Green made an impact as a big play tight end. If he can stay healthy, he adds a nice element to the offense.

Ladarius Green (concussion) listed as doubtful for the Steelers.

It appears unlikely that Green will play in the Divisional Round on Sunday. He has not been cleared from concussion protocol and has not practiced all week. If Green is out on Sunday, Jesse James will start at tight end against the Chiefs.

Ladarius Green (concussion) did not participate in Thursday's practice.

He's still in concussion protocol. We will update you on his official game status tomorrow.

Ladarius Green (concussion) DNP on Wednesday.

He'll have to get cleared from his concussion if he's going to play this Sunday against the Chiefs. Check back in throughout the week.

Ladarius Green (concussion) inactive for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh will have to rely on Jesse James at tight end in the Wild Card matchup against the Dolphins. Look for some of the Steelers' young receivers to also step up for Ben Roethlisberger.

Ladarius Green (concussion) listed as questionable for Wild Card Round against Miami.

Green practiced fully on Wednesday and Thursday, but did not practice today. Playing on Sunday gives Green an extra day, but it's a 50/50 whether or not he will play. The Steelers would rely on their young receivers and tight end Jesse James to pick up the slack behind Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell if Green doesn't play. Relatedly, Dolphins' top cornerback Byron Maxwell (ankle) is listed as doubtful; he being inactive would make things easier for Pittsburgh's receivers.

Ladarius Green (concussion) was a full participant in practice today.

Green should be good to go for Sunday against the Dolphins, but concussions obviously can be unpredictable. Check back in on his status.

Ladarius Green (concussion) inactive for the Steelers.

They'll rely on Jesse James and others to pick up the slack at tight end. Green will try to get cleared for Week 17.

Ladarius Green is in concussion protocol.

It will probably be tough for him to get cleared and play against the Ravens this week. The good news is, the Steelers play on Christmas Day as opposed to Christmas Eve like most of the league. If Green can get cleared, he'd be a TE1 option.

Ladarius Green caught five passes for 72 yards in the Steelers' 24-20 win over the Bengals.

Green led the team with eight targets (tied with Le'Veon Bell) with Cincinnati not covering the tight end position well. He has a tougher matchup with Baltimore on Christmas Day, but Green remains a TE1 in the Pittsburgh offense.

Ladarius Green caught two passes for 25 yards in the Steelers' win over the Bills.

Big Ben threw for just 220 yards and no scores (plus three interceptions) in the 27-20 win, so Green struggling to have a big day with the game played in the snow. The Steelers' new weapon should bounce back in Week 15 against the Bengals. He's a TE1.

Ladarius Green explodes in win.

Green caught six passes for 110 yards and a touchdown as the Steelers defeated the Giants. The touchdown was a fake screen that Landon Collins bit on, leaving Green wide open en route to the end zone. Making a point to get the talented tight end involved, the Steelers have finally been rewarded with a big game. Green is a TE1 in good matchups for the fantasy playoffs.

Lardarius Green has two big catches for Steelers in Week 12.

Green had two receptions for 67 yards. Both catches were over 30 yards for Green. If he becomes a consistent option for Big Ben, Green could put up some big numbers for the TE spot. He'll be a high-upside option against the Giants next week.

Ladarius Green was held without a catch as the Steelers defeated the Browns on Sunday.

It looked like a prime opportunity for Green to breakout, but the wind caused the Steelers to play conservative. Still, he dropped a contested pass in the end zone that would have saved his day. In a potential Thanksgiving shootout with the Colts in Week 12, Green probably still belongs on the TE1 map.

The Steelers have activated TE Ladarius Green to their 53-man roster.

Green was a key offseason acquisition for the Steelers in free agency. He's a very athletic tight end that will add another element of athleticism and versatility to the offense. Jesse James has filled in at tight end, but Green will likely step in as the starter or at the very least the biggest receiving threat at tight end for Ben Roethlisberger.
