Tevin Coleman | Free Agent RB

49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk hints the team will have an unpredictable backfield.

Of San Francisco’s backfield, Juszczyk says, “you’re going to see a different guy shine each week,” which sounds good for the team in real life but bad for fantasy owners looking to predict what’s going to happen from week to week this season. The Niners undoubtedly have the most crowded and deepest backfield in the league with Tevin Coleman, Jerick McKinnon, Matt Breida, Jeffery Wilson, and Raheem Mostert all in the mix, and it’s possible Coleman, McKinnon, and Breida (the three most likely fantasy options) in particular are all boom-bust starters that might be difficult to trust on a weekly basis in 2019. Considering his success in Kyle Shanahan’s offense when they were both with the Falcons, Coleman is probably the favorite to start and deliver the most consistent numbers after he surprisingly signed with the Niners during free agency.

Leonte Carroo | Free Agent WR

The NFL has suspended Leonte Carroo four games, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

It’s unclear what the former Dolphins receiver is being suspended for, but this might make it difficult for him to find a team ahead of training camp. However, the 2016 third-round pick should draw interest around the league at some point this year, even if it’s after the regular season begins in September.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins | Free Agent TE

The Patriots are releasing Austin Seferian-Jenkins, according to multiple reports.

This release is a bit of a surprise, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says Seferian-Jenkins is “taking a step away for a month for personal issues and the team will release him as he does that.” ASJ was seen as the early favorite to start at tight end for the Patriots to open the season with Benjamin Watson set to serve a four-game suspension, so this could lead to New England looking into potentially acquiring Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph via a trade, which they might have already been looking into anyway. Hopefully Seferian-Jenkins is OK and can get back on the field with the Patriots or another team ahead of this season.

Jordan Howard | Free Agent RB

Jordan Howard expects to be used more diversely with the Eagles.

According to Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the former Bears running backs said, “I feel like [the Eagles are] allowing me to do more, show my game off more instead of just being one-dimensional like Chicago had me.” Howard added that the Bears had a certain view of him and didn’t really utilize him in the passing game despite his putting in work to improve in the area, as well as adding that the Eagles “do a lot more in the run game” and that he should be used as more than just an inside-zone runner like was with the Bears. Second-round pick Miles Sanders is likely to get a good number of touches as a rookie, but Howard has the third-most rushing yards in the league since getting drafted in 2016 and is probably the favorite for goal-line carries in what should be an explosive offense this season.

Josh Doctson | Free Agent WR

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden says he thinks Josh Doctson should have a big season.

Gruden says he’s been “really impressed” with Doctson this offseason, adding that the former first-round pick has been “making plays left and right.” The Redskins head coach added that he’s as big of a supporter as Doctson as anyone and that “it’s a big year for him, we all know contractually, but for this football team for us to have success we need his input. We need his production. I think this is going to be a big year for him. If he has the year that I think he should have, then our offense should really take the next step.” Washington added receivers Terry McLaurin and Kelvin Harmon in the third and sixth rounds, respectively, but they didn’t add any big-time free agents to the group, and it looks like they’ll rely on Doctson to be a top target on the outside. Doctson has big-play ability and upside, but he’ll likely be in a run-heavy offense, which could cap his statistical production. Overall, Doctson will likely be just a late-round selection with upside in fantasy drafts later this summer.

Darrell Henderson | Free Agent RB

Rams head coach Sean McVay reportedly believed Darrell Henderson was the “most dangerous offensive player in the draft.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on his podcast: “Darrell Henderson, third round pick (70th overall), running back from Memphis, here’s a guy that I believe Sean McVay thought was the most dangerous offensive player in the draft… That’s right. [The Rams] love Darrell Henderson.” It’s worth noting that Schefter says “I believe” McVay thought that about Henderson, but clearly the Rams were high on him to take him 70th overall when they have Todd Gurley and Malcolm Brown in the backfield. Gurley’s knee issues, along with McVay’s apparent love for Henderson, could mean we see a lot of Henderson in 2019—and the Rams might feel good about the Memphis product eventually taking over the backfield if Gurley’s knee issues become too much to deal with. Dynasty owners in particular should take note of this nugget from Schefter.

Brandon Reilly | Steelers WR

The Lions have signed Brandon Reilly.

Reilly spent the end of last season with Detroit, and now he’s back after spending a short time with Dallas this offseason. Reilly will compete for a roster spot in the Lions, but he’s not on the fantasy radar yet.
