Join now >Benjamin Watson is being suspended four games after a failed drug test.
Watson was fully planning on retiring this offseason, and he says he was prescribed and took Bio Identical Testosterone Cypionate and was randomly drug tested by the NFL, which he accepted because he didn’t expect to play again. Then teams, including the Patriots, expressed interest in signing him, and he knew he’d have a four-game suspension if he decided to play again. So basically, Watson is disappointed but accepts his punishment under the NFL’s policy and will not be appealing this suspension. Austin Seferian-Jenkins is likely to be New England’s top tight end for the first four weeks of the season, and a strong performance could lead to him keeping the role even when Watson returns. Watson’s 2019 season debut will come in Week 5 at Washington on October 6.

Drew Brees says Jared Cook has impressed the Saints.
Brees says the team’s new tight end has “certainly impressed us these first couple of days,” adding that his length and ability to win 50/50 balls makes him a “good matchup” all the time. Saints head coach Sean Payton also said that they’ll be able to use Cook similar to how he was used in Oakland last year, when the veteran set career-highs across the board with a 68/896/6 line. There was earlier talk this offseason about Cook being used similar to Jimmy Graham, so it’s been all positive for Cook as he gets his footing in New Orleans. It’d be a surprise if Cook isn’t a fantasy TE1 this season.

Leonard Fournette says he “put a lot on [himself] this offseason.”
Fournette had a disappointing 2018 season that included him admitting he could have been in better shape, but he reportedly sounds like a different person this offseason. The big running back says he spent time getting his body right, and “just mentally coming back ready to play football.” Also, new Jaguars offensive coordinator John DeFilippo said he’s not holding anything that happened in the past against Fournette, as all his players will have a clean slate with him; and running backs coach Terry Robiskie says Fournette told him he wants to do great things like run for 2,000 yards in a season and lead the team to a Super Bowl. After it looked like there was a serious chance that the Jaguars would simply release the former No. 4 overall pick, Fournette might’ve come to a realization that he needs to be on-point, and hopefully he’ll be at his best in 2019. Expect Fournette to be a lot closer to his rookie season when he rushed for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns than last season when he had under 500 rushing yards.

The Raiders have released Landry Jones.
Jones was competing for a backup role with Mike Glennon and Nathan Peterman, so it was stiff competition in Oakland. Getting released in May will give the former Steeler an opportunity to land elsewhere and win a reserve role on another roster for the upcoming season.

Greg Olsen (foot) is 100%.
Olsen says he’s “been cleared for everything for a while now,” and he’s moving around at OTAs, which is a positive sign after dealing with foot issues the last two seasons. The veteran tight end has been extremely durable throughout his career before the foot issue popped up, so hopefully he’s able to put this behind him and play all 16 games for Carolina this season. Olsen should remain a solid TE1 fantasy option in 2019.

The Raiders signed Erik Swoope, according to Adam Schefter.
Swoope, who caught eight passes in seven games with the Colts last season, should actually have a nice opportunity to climb the depth chart in Oakland, but there might not be enough looks at the position to become a fantasy contributor. For now, consider Swoope one of a handful of potential receiving options at tight end for Jon Gruden’s offense.

The Buccaneers claimed Jordan Leggett off waivers.
Leggett was with new Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles in New York last season, so Tampa Bay has some insight on the 24-year-old tight end. That said, O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate are squarely atop the Bucs depth chart, so Leggett likely won’t make a huge fantasy impact in 2019.
