Latavius Murray | Free Agent RB

The Saints are expected to sign Latavius Murray, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter says it’s a four-year, $14.4 million deal for the former Viking and Raider, and it will become official at the start of the new league year tomorrow. This almost certainly means the end of Mark Ingram in New Orleans, but it’s a bit surprising Murray’s salary will be under $4 million per season. The 29-year-old must’ve liked what the Saints told him about a potential role, as he’ll likely have a huge role while working in tandem with Alvin Kamara in what could be a 50/50 split in terms of carries (though Kamara will be more involved as a receiver). Also, Murray is one of the best goal-line backs in football, so he looks like he should be at least a fantasy FLEX option with plenty of scoring opportunities in an excellent Saints offense in 2019.

Derrius Guice | Free Agent RB

Derrius Guice (ACL) says he’s taking his knee rehab “day-by-day.”

Guice said he’s confident he’ll be ready for the start of the 2019 NFL season, but he told SiriusXM NFL Radio that they aren’t making commitments to any timelines and are just taking things day-by-day. The former LSU star won’t commit to being ready for training camp, which is understandable, as pushing things too much could lead to a setback. Guice also said he wasn’t all there mentally last season and kind of does still feel like a rookie because an infection and three additional knee surgeries didn’t allow him to remain in Washington with the team all season last year. Guice shouldn’t have much trouble with the playbook, though, and the most important thing is that he gets back to 100%. Ideally, the 2018 second-round pick will be able to participate in some offseason training in at least a limited basis.

Jaydon Mickens | Free Agent WR

The Jaguars are not tendering an offer to Jaydon Mickens, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Mickens was an exclusive rights free agent, but now he’ll become available for all 32 teams to sign at the start of the new league year. The 2016 undrafted free agent can chip in on offense, but he’ll likely earn a role with a team as a special-teamer, particularly as a returner.

Alex Collins | Free Agent RB

The Ravens have waived running back Alex Collins.

This move comes after Collins was arrested following a Friday morning car crash, so Baltimore is basically just ridding themselves of their former starter, who was set to be a restricted free agent, a couple weeks early. Last season, Collins averaged just 3.6 yards per carry and was replaced by undrafted rookie Gus Edwards as the lead back when Lamar Jackson took over under center.

Josh Gordon | Free Agent WR

The Patriots placed the original-round tender on Josh Gordon, according to multiple reports.

The move was first reported by Ben Volin of the Boston Globe. So the team is clearly open to bringing Gordon back into the mix in 2019 despite yet another suspension last season. If another team happens to sign Gordon, which doesn’t seem likely, New England would receive a second-round pick in return. We just have to hope the former All-Pro receiver can get his life on track and play football for a long time, but it’s difficult to count on him at this point—the Patriots probably won’t as they address the receiver position in free agency and the draft.

E.J. Manuel | Retired QB

The Chiefs signed quarterback E.J. Manuel.

Manuel wasn’t on an NFL roster during the regular season in 2018, as he was released by the Raiders after they traded for A.J. McCarron before the season. The former first-round pick will likely get a legitimate shot to win the backup job behind Patrick Mahomes, and landing with Andy Reid is a good spot for him, but obviously he’s off the fantasy radar right now.

Devin Funchess | Free Agent TE

The Colts are signing Devin Funchess to a one-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

It’s reportedly a max value of $13 million for Funchess, which is obviously excellent money for him with Indy getting aggressive in attempting to improve one of the bigger weak spots on their roster. The deal won’t become official until the new league year starts in a couple days, but this is a great landing spot for Funchess and a nice add by the Colts, as the big former Panther will likely immediately step in as the No. 2 wide receiver opposite T.Y. Hilton. It being a one-year deal is interesting, and it gives Funchess another opportunity to play well in a contract year and hopefully earn a long-term extension next offseason after his playing time diminished in Carolina last season. Funchess has obvious double-digit touchdown upside with Andrew Luck, who trusts his big targets to make plays, and could be one of the better value picks if he goes toward the end of fantasy drafts next summer.
