DeSean Jackson | Retired WR

The Eagles are acquiring DeSean Jackson from the Buccaneers, according to multiple reports.

Earlier today, Jackson proclaimed that he was done in Tampa Bay, but the Bucs did not officially release him; instead, Tampa Bay is dealing him to Philadelphia, where he started his career and played six seasons, making three Pro Bowls. While Jackson still has great speed, this is a bit of a curious move considering he’s due $10 million—perhaps the contract will be restructured as part of the trade, though, as Jackson wanted to play with the Eagles again and might have been willing to take a pay cut. Barring something unforeseen with Nelson Agholor, who has been speculated as a potential trade candidate, the 32-year-old Jackson will slide in as a starter along with Alshon Jeffery and Agholor. He’ll likely be a boom/bust FLEX option in 2019.

Demaryius Thomas | Retired WR

Demaryius Thomas was arrested for vehicular assault stemming from a crash earlier this month.

Thomas was going 70 miles per hour in a 30 MPH zone according to Denver police, and it led to one of his passengers suffering “serious bodily injuries.” The free agent receiver is now in custody. Thomas only endured minor injuries from the crash, but this certainly won’t help his chances of getting another NFL opportunity—especially since he’s now 31 and coming off a torn Achilles.

Nick Foles | Free Agent QB

The Jaguars are signing Nick Foles, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

It’s reportedly a four-year, $88 million deal with a max value of $102 million for the Super Bowl LII MVP, and it should become official quickly at the start of the new league year on Wednesday. This has been the expectation for weeks, and the two sides didn’t take much time to come to an agreement less than five hours after the free-agent negotiating period opened at noon ET. Foles reunites with Jaguars offensive coordinator John DeFilippo, who was the Eagles quarterbacks coach during Philadelphia’s Super Bowl run in 2017-2018, but he joins an offense with much different personnel than what he had with the Eagles. Hopefully Foles’ calm and cool personality rubs off on his teammates, as the Jags have been an undisciplined team, particularly last season. In what’ll likely be a run-heavy offense, Foles is likely to be just a fantasy QB2 in 2019. But as a real-life quarterback, the Jaguars added a great one that could help them immediately become legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Dion Sims | Free Agent TE

The Bears have officially released tight end Dion Sims.

This was reportedly going to happen, and Chicago has now made it official. This creates $6 million in cap space for a Bears team that has big-money free agent Trey Burton and former second-rounder Adam Shaheen on the depth chart, so this was a no-brainer after Sims had just two receptions in eight games last season. Sims just turned 28 a few days ago and should draw plenty of interest on the open market as a big target and willing blocker for teams looking to add to their tight end group.

Frank Gore | Retired RB

The Bills intend to sign Frank Gore, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Keep in mind, this deal cannot become official until the start of the new league year on Wednesday at 4:00 PM ET—and Gore previously went back on his commitment to the Eagles, though to be fair he was torn up and felt bad about it—but it looks like the ageless wonder will continue his career in Buffalo. Gore figures to work in tandem with LeSean McCoy as a tough inside runner that’ll help keep the offense ahead of the sticks in favorable positions. This is probably a better real-life signing for the Bills than it is a boost for Gore’s fantasy value, but the 35-year-old (36 in May), but don’t be surprised if Gore is a weekly FLEX option this season.

Damien Williams | Free Agent RB

Chiefs GM Brett Veach says the starting running back job is “Damien Williams’ to lose” right now.

Obviously, this isn’t a major surprise after the way Williams played down the stretch for the Chiefs last season, averaging 5.1 yards per carry and showing his versatility as a runner and receiver, including into the postseason. Kansas City might be in the market for another running back in the draft, but Williams is clearly the favorite to open 2019 as the team’s clear-cut starter. Williams was a fantasy RB1 when he took over the starting role for Kareem Hunt (who was released after a video emerged of him hitting a young woman) and Spencer Ware (who suffered a hamstring injury that forced Williams into a workhorse role), and he should be a hot fantasy commodity next season as someone that should have plenty of scoring opportunities in an elite offense.

Jamison Crowder | Free Agent WR

The Jets have agreed to a deal with Jamison Crowder, according to multiple reports.

NFL Network was first to report this deal was close, and now multiple reports say the two sides have come to an agreement. This signing—which cannot become official until Wednesday—is a bit of a surprise considering Quincy Enunwa looked set to man the slot for the Jets, but head coach Adam Gase has said that Enunwa’s role can be expanded. Robby Anderson, Enunwa, and Crowder are set to enter 2019 as the team’s top three receivers. Crowder figures to have most of his fantasy value in deeper PPR leagues, though Anderson and Enunwa will likely still be the preferred option in that scoring format.
