Join now >Tyler Higbee not targeted in Super Bowl LIII loss.
Higbee was basically no where to be found in the 13-3 defeat, as the Rams probably could have used a bit more backside play-action passes to their tight end with New England’s pass rush generating consistent pressure. Higbee should once again be a co-starter with Gerald Everett in 2019, which like won’t lead to much fantasy value.

Rob Gronkowski comes alive on 11 targets in playoff victory.
Gronkowski caught six passes for 79 yards, including a couple clutch grabs in the fourth quarter and overtime of a 37-31 win. The targets led the team, and Gronk did his usual work as a dominant run blocker. If this is the final season for the all-time great tight end, his career will end against the Rams in Super Bowl LIII.

Cordarrelle Patterson gets four offensive touches in Super Bowl win versus the Rams.
Patterson had two carries for seven yards (both on jet sweeps) along with two receptions for 14 yards in the Patriots’ Super Bowl LIII victory. On the opening kickoff, Patterson had a 38-yard kickoff return to set his team up with good field position, but he didn’t receive any other opportunities in the low-scoring game. Patterson is set to become a free agent this offseason, but both sides probably want to move forward together, as New England has helped the explosive former first-round pick work his way into a reliable contributor on offense. Patterson isn’t likely to be a huge fantasy contributor in 2019, as he’s more of a real-life contributor.

Julian Edelman comes up clutch in AFC Championship Game win.
Edelman caught seven-of-ten targets for a team-high 96 yards, consistently making clutch receptions over the middle in a 37-31 overtime victory. The CBS postgame show wisely brought up the point that Edelman deserves serious consideration for Canton due to his playoff heroics over the years, and he will look to build on his legacy in a couple weeks against the Rams; a similar performance to tonight would put him behind just Jerry Rice on the all-time postseason receiving list.

Gerald Everett targeted once in Super Bowl LIII loss.
It was an incompletion in the fourth quarter on a short pass along the sideline. Everett probably should have been more involved as a potential mismatch option against New England’s linebackers, and Los Angeles ended up being held to just a single field goal in the 13-3 defeat. The 2017 second-round pick will look to make a Year 3 leap next season, but he is unlikely to be a fantasy difference-maker on an offense that includes Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, and Cooper Kupp.
2/3/19 - 11:01 PM ET
James White handles ten touches in win over the Chiefs.
White rushed six times for 23 yards and caught four passes for 49 yards. The Patriots used White early and often (his first six touches all went for a first down), but Kansas City did their best to take him away in the second half. The hero of Super Bowl LI will look to make a huge impact in Super Bowl LIII in a couple weeks against the Rams.

Julian Edelman wins Super Bowl LIII MVP.
Edelman caught ten passes for 141 yards and had one carry for eight yards in the Patriots’ Super Bowl win versus the Rams. The veteran receiver was exceptional all game, getting open for Tom Brady all night and accounting for over half of New England’s passing yardage in their sixth Super Bowl win. In the 13-3 victory, Edelman passed Michael Irvin for the second post postseason receiving yardage in NFL history (1,412 yards), and he’s behind only Jerry Rice (2,245 yards) in the category. Edelman’s Super Bowl MVP adds to his legendary postseason resume, and it adds to what we think is a definite Hall of Fame resume. He’s one of the best big-game players of all-time, and he looked as good as ever at 32 years old this season (despite coming off a torn ACL), so we don’t see him slowing down next season. Edelman should offer among the highest floors in 2019 fantasy drafts this summer.
