Alfred Blue gets eight carries in Week 7.

Blue gained 28 yards on his eight attempts against the Jaguars, while teammate Lamar Miller continued getting more carries, this game acting as a workhorse with 22 attempts (for 100 yards and a touchdown). For fantasy purposes, Blue is just a handcuff for Miller or a deep-league FLEX option at the moment.

Sony Michel has been ruled out for the rest of today’s game.

The Patriots didn’t disclose the exact location of the leg injury for Michel, but this was expected. Now we just have to hope the injury to the rookie running back isn’t as serious as it looks. Kenjon Barner will take on a bigger role behind James White for the rest of today’s game against the Bears.

Taylor Gabriel catches three passes against the Patriots.

Gabriel gained 26 yards on his three receptions (four targets) in the Week 7 loss, and he also had one carry for zero yards. There were some throws missed down the field, but overall New England didn’t let the wide receivers of the Bears beat them. Gabriel will look to do more damage versus the Jets in Week 8.

The Jaguars have benched Blake Bortles.

With zero points nearly five minutes into the third quarter, the Jaguars have made the move to Cody Kessler. We’ve been high on Kessler as an efficient passer that should get the ball on accurately and allow his receivers to make plays, and there might be a chance he can runaway with the starting job if he plays well today against the Texans. Before leaving, Bortles  was 6/12 for 61 yards with six carries for 30 yards and two fumbles lost.

Tarik Cohen scores in Week 7.

Cohen carried six times for 14 yards and added eight receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Patriots. The score was a six-yarder for the dynamic second-year back, and it makes it three straight weeks with a touchdown. Bears head coach Matt Nagy knows how to get Cohen involved, and he should get a handful of carries and at least several targets next week against the Jets.

Bilal Powell (neck) is out for the rest of today’s game.

It was unclear what type of injury Powell suffered, and unfortunate it’s a neck injury. Hopefully it’s not too serious, but Powell is done for the rest of the afternoon. Before leaving, Powell had five carries for 20 yards and added one reception for five yards. Trenton Cannon should get more work behind Isiah Crowell with Powell out.

Jordan Howard scores against the Patriots.

Howard carried 12 times for 39 yards and a touchdown along with one reception for nine yards (on a very nice twisting catch where he showed great hands). The touchdown came by the goal line, and none of Howard’s attempts went for more than six yards in the game. Tarik Cohen received six carries (for 14 yards) along with eight receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown in the loss. This is the type of game Howard has been having this season, but we’ll see if the Bears hand him the ball more against the Jets in Week 8.
