Michael Gallup | Commanders WR

Michael Gallup (ankle) to miss multiple weeks.

When we saw Gallup leave last night’s game in good spirits on the sidelines, we didn’t think the ankle issue was too serious. But he’s already out for Week 2. Hopefully Gallup can avoid an IR stint, which would force him to miss at least three weeks.

Nyheim Hines | Free Agent RB

The Colts are signing Nyheim Hines to a three-year, $18.6-million extension.

The deal includes $12 million guaranteed. A fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Hines has developed into one of the league’s best receiving backs, and he’s the perfect long-term complement to Jonathan Taylor in Indy.

9/10/21 - 05:12 PM ET

Tre'Quan Smith | Broncos WR

Tre’Quan Smith (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 1.

Smith has been battling a hamstring injury since training camp, and this will be a significant loss for a team that won’t have Michael Thomas (ankle) for at least the first six weeks. Consider this news a downgrade for Jameis Winston against Green Bay.

9/10/21 - 04:42 PM ET

Austin Ekeler | Commanders RB

Austin Ekeler (hamstring) is officially questionable for Week 1.

Ekeler was able to practice on a limited basis to end the week after missing Wednesday’s and Thursday’s practices. The dynamic running back is looking like a game-time call, but there’s optimism that he’ll be ready to go. The Chargers thankfully play at 1:00 PM ET to kickoff their season, so Ekeler’s status will be known on Sunday morning.

9/10/21 - 04:01 PM ET

Evan Engram | Broncos TE

Evan Engram (calf) officially out for Week 1.

Engram is considered week-to-week, but he’s expected to return sooner rather than later after the Giants opted against putting him on short-term injured reserve to open the regular season.

9/10/21 - 03:23 PM ET

Saquon Barkley | Eagles RB

Saquon Barkley (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Week 1.

Barkley is fully expected to be ready to go for the season opener as he comes off last season’s ACL tear, and this would probably be a “probable” tag if the NFL still offered that as a designation. The star running back should be safe to insert into Week 1 fantasy lineups.

9/10/21 - 03:22 PM ET

Carson Wentz | Free Agent QB

Carson Wentz will officially start in Week 1.

Wentz didn’t get much practice time leading up to the season, but he practiced all this week and will officially make his Colts debut to begin the year. Wentz will be without T.Y. Hilton (neck), and there’s some risk to putting him in Week 1 fantasy lineups considering the missed practice time this summer.
