Jamison Crowder | Free Agent WR

Jamison Crowder gets four touches in Week 6.

Crowder carries once for 11 yards and had three receptions for 15 yards. The popular breakout pick just hasn’t done much yet this season and is best left on the bench for now.

Tarik Cohen | Free Agent RB

Tarik Cohen gets seven touches in Week 5.

The rookie running back was pretty much shut down by the solid Vikings defense, as he had six carries for 13 yards and one reception for -3 yards. There simply wasn’t much room to run, and Minnesota appeared to lock in on stopping the running backs from beating them. The Ravens might try to use a similar tactic next week, but Cohen is still on the FLEX radar for the game.

Kevin Hogan | Bengals QB

Kevin Hogan struggles in first career start as Browns lose to the Texans.

Hogan was 20/37 for 140 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. He also rushed five times for 36 yards. Cleveland was held to a field goal through the first three quarters, but they finally found the end zone on offense with a late touchdown pass to Seth DeValve, but the game was far out of reach. Hue Jackson has yet to decide the starting quarterback for next week’s game against the Titans, but he said it’s between Hogan and rookie DeShone Kizer. It’s unclear what needs to happen for Cody Kessler to get a chance after he impressed as a rookie, but he appears locked in as the third quarterback.

Jordan Howard | Free Agent RB

Jordan Howard rushes 19 times against the Vikings.

With a rookie quarterback in for Chicago, Minnesota seemed determined to stop Howard after what he did to them last season as a rookie. The second-year back ended up with 76 yards on his 19 carries, and he had no receptions in the passing game. He did leave briefly for what looked like it might have been a shoulder issue again, but he quickly returned after a couple plays. Howard could face a Ravens defense that isn’t as tough on the ground as you might think, as nose tackle Brandon Williams could be out again. Howard is an RB1 in that matchup either way.

Samaje Perine | Bengals RB

Samaje Perine catches touchdown in Week 6.

The rookie running back from Oklahoma carried nine times for 23 yards while adding three receptions (on three targets) for 24 yards and a touchdown. The score came on a swing pass near the goal line, where Perine showed good focus to catch the ball and break a tackle before getting into the end zone—plays like that should help the rookie gain trust from the coaching staff. Chris Thompson surprisingly handled 20 touches in the game, but Perine still had a good day with the score. If Rob Kelley (ankle) is out again in Week 7, Perine would be a FLEX option versus the Eagles.

Mitchell Trubisky | Bills QB

Mitchell Trubisky starts first NFL game for the Bears.

The second overall pick in the draft started off hot against a stingy Vikings defense, as the throws were on point and he was scrambling on bootlegs while putting throws on the money. But the Vikings did clamp down when the Bears were getting close to scoring territory, and overall Trubisky was 11/24 for 122 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and one lost fumble on a strip sack, while adding three carries for 22 yards. The touchdown, Trubisky’s first of his career, was on a tipped pass in the end zone that went to tight end Zach Miller. After the touchdown, the Bears had one of the best two-point conversions you’ll ever see, as they did a double handoff then pitch to Trubisky (you can see it in the link below). And the interception was a bad one with just over two minutes to go deep in his own territory. He made an ill-advised throw while scrambling to the right, and Vikings Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith snatched the ball before it could get to Miller up the sideline. Obviously it wasn’t a great decision, but he’s a young inexperienced quarterback that was trying to make a play—it’s certainly understandable. Trubisky faces another stingy defense when he faces the Ravens in Week 6.

Justin Hardy | Bears WR

Justin Hardy catches all three targets against the Dolphins.

Hardy was a reliable target late in the game for Matt Ryan, with the Falcons trying to score a go-ahead touchdown or game-tying field goal. Overall, Hardy had three receptions for 34 yards in the loss. He’s a real-life contributor to Atlanta, but it’s difficult to trust Hardy in fantasy lineups.
