Seattle is clearly comfortable with Collins, so they’re keeping him on the roster ahead of the offseason. The veteran running back will likely have to battle for a roster spot this summer.

Ben Roethlisberger will play for the Steelers in 2021.
In a statement to NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala, Roethlisberger’s agent Ryan Tollner said the Steelers “want Ben back and will contact me soon to address his cap situation.” Roethlisberger’s cap number was going to be $41.25 million, and that simply was not going to work for Pittsburgh. Despite some concern after Steelers brass was sounded somewhat lukewarm on bringing back their two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback, expect a restructured contract to be finalized soon.

The Jaguars are not expected to pick up the team option for Tyler Eifert, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The veteran was able to mostly stay healthy last season with 36/349/2 line in 15 games, but Jacksonville is deciding to open up even more cap space ahead of free agency by moving on. Overall, the offense could be in excellent shape for presumed No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence if they can add a tight end, left tackle, and perhaps another wideout via free agency and/or the draft.

The Eagles will release Alshon Jeffery at the start of the new league year, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Jeffery was obviously a key part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII team, but he has struggled with injuries since then and will be another veteran released as Philadelphia enters a new era. The big-bodied wideout (who turned 31 last week) could have a resurgence in a new city, but it would be a surprise if he started 2021 with anything more than touchdown-dependent fantasy value.

The Texans are re-signing Dontrell Hilliard to a one-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Hilliard was slated to hit restricted free agency, but he will avoid that and stay in Houston. The veteran projects to mostly contribute on special teams, though it wouldn’t be a surprise if he gets a decent shot in the backfield with all the changes that could occur for the Texans.

DeSean Jackson posts on Instagram that his time in Philadelphia has come to an end.
Jackson said he is “looking forward to [his] next chapter” with an eyes emoji, so the 34-year-old sounds like he has no desire to call it a career after his second stint with the Eagles resulted in just 23 receptions over two seasons. The speed of Jackson will almost certainly give him another shot elsewhere, but he simply cannot be trusted to stay healthy at this point, and another strong group of young receivers entering the league could leave him off the map in redraft leagues heading into 2021. If the veteran wants a championship, trying to team up with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay as a situational deep threat wouldn’t be a surprise.

The Eagles are trading Carson Wentz to the Colts, according to ESPN.
Indianapolis is sending over a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could become a first-rounder for the former No. 2 overall pick in the draft and the Eagles’ former franchise quarterback. Fans in Philadelphia are not going to be happy with this return considering this year’s pick is just a third-rounder, though it will look better if that conditional second-rounder can become a first in 2022, which will happen if Wentz plays 75 precent of the snaps or 70 percent of the snaps and the Colts make the postseason. While the Eagles fired Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson, Wentz still clearly wanted nothing to do with the organization, and he successfully forced his way out to a great landing spot with the Colts, where he’ll be reunited with former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich. After signing Wentz to a monster extension just a couple of years ago, the Eagles are now taking a $33.8 million cap hit with Wentz off the roster, the largest in NFL history.
