Join now >Alex Smith and Washington are expected to part ways, according to NFL Network.
Smith’s truly remarkable comeback in which he came all the way back from a devastating leg injury to win the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award after leading the Football Team to a 5-1 record and the postseason last year, but the journey won’t continue in Washington. We would think Washington will just let Smith go so that he can sign with any team he wants, and it’ll be interesting to see where the veteran quarterback lands. Smith clearly wants a starting job, and there are some openings this offseason.

Josh Gordon will play in the FCFL.
Gordon will be joining Johnny Manziel on the Zappers of the Fan Controlled Football League, so the former Heisman Trophy winner and the former All-Pro receiver could form an exciting connection. Gordon is again indefinitely suspended by the NFL for substance abuse, so hopefully he can produce in the FCFL while showing that he can stay clean; if he can, perhaps he’ll get another shot in the NFL later this year.

Drew Brees seen working out hard in video.
Brees had been seen as a near lock to retire this offseason, but trainer Todd Durkin posted a video of the future Hall of Fame quarterback going the extra mile in a workout while also hinting that Brees might be determined for a reason. Don’t be shocked if Brees ends up returning for a 21st NFL season after he was banged up with shoulder and rib injuries in 2020—despite what it looked like when he walked off the field following the postseason loss to the Bucs, Brees returning might be more likely than not at this point considering no retirement announcement has been made yet.

The Texans have released Duke Johnson, according to multiple reports.
Houston could be making a ton of moves in the coming weeks and months as general manager Nick Caserio looks to mold the roster, and Johnson will now get a chance to sign elsewhere ahead of the new league year. Turning 28 at the end of September, Johnson rushed 160 times for 645 yards and three touchdowns with a 72/659/4 receiving line in two seasons with the Texans. He is unlikely to open 2021 with much more than decent PPR FLEX value.

The Bears are re-signing Ryan Nall.
Nall was set to become a restricted free agent when the new league year begins, but it’s good for him that the Bears decided to lock him up now. Nall will remain a dependable reserve option in the Chicago backfield next season.

Rams head coach Sean McVay talks up Cam Akers.
While speaking to reporters, McVay says he thinks Akers is “an every-down back” and “a very special player”. This isn’t a surprise after Akers dominated the Rams backfield down the stretch, and anyone that watched the then-rookie toward the end of the regular season and into the playoffs while coming off an ankle injury knows Los Angeles is extremely high on the second-round pick. Akers should go very high in fantasy drafts this summer.

The Titans are releasing Adam Humphries, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The veteran had a scary concussion in 2020 that forced him to miss much of the season, and with Corey Davis also hitting free agency next month, Tennessee could have a completely remade receiving corps behind A.J. Brown. Still just 27, Humphries should be able to land somewhere with a decent shot to be a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver.
