Join now >Chris Hogan has declared for the Premier Lacrosse Entry Draft.
This is a slight surprise just because Hogan is jumping from one sport to another professionally, but it’s not too shocking considering the veteran receiver was a lacrosse star at Penn State. If Hogan is selected next month, it might mean the end of his NFL career, but we’ll see. Hogan, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots, probably figures he’s only got one opportunity to do this, so now is a good time to give it a shot at 32 years old.

The Raiders plan to release Tyrell Williams.
Williams missed all of last season with a shoulder issue, and the Raiders got enough production out of the receiving corps that they feel they can move on from the veteran receiver. This move will save Las Vegas $11.5 million in cap space, which they might use to retain impending Nelson Agholor or to build up the defense. Williams will be released at the start of the new league year, barring another team stepping in an acquiring him via a trade. Williams will turn 29 tomorrow, but he’s expected to be at full health in the next few weeks.

Tom Brady will undergo minor surgery on his left knee.
Head coach Bruce Arians called it “a clean up,” so it sounds like this will have little to no impact on Brady’s offseason. The seven-time Super Bowl champion remains a definite buy-low in dynasty leagues right now and could provide high-end QB1 value in 2021.

Lions talk up D’Andre Swift as potential 25-touch back.
New offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn and new assistant head coach/running backs coach Duce Staley talked up the second-year runner, and it sounds like Detroit will be leaning on him as an offensive centerpiece in 2021. Swift was obviously a very talented three-down back coming out of Georgia, but it’s good to hear both Lynn and Staley confirm they believe it, too—with the former Eagles running back saying he has “special traits” to handle 25 touches per game via both carries and receptions. The new identity under head coach Dan Campbell will be that of a physical team, which is great news for Swift as the lead back. He should be one of the best RB1 values in fantasy drafts this summer.

Taylor Heinicke has agreed to a two-year extension with Washington, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The deal is worth $8.75 million, but it also includes incentives based on how many games he starts. Washington will surely be in the quarterback market this offseason, though they should feel really good about Heinicke as a potential option based on how well he played last month in a near upset victory over Tampa Bay. Ron Rivera’s squad has the No. 19 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Alex Tanney has retired from the NFL.
After going undrafted in 2012, Tanney did very well to stick around for nine seasons in the league as a member of the Chiefs, Cowboys, Browns, Buccaneers, Titans, Bills, Colts, and Giants. He appeared in just two career games, but he threw a touchdown for Tennessee back in 2015, which he’ll always remember. Tanney was also well known for a viral trick shot video during his time in college at Monmouth. We wish Tanney luck as he moves past his playing career.

Patrick Mahomes will undergo toe surgery.
Mahomes didn’t appear too hobbled by his turf toe, but this surgery should get him back to 100% health for the start of next season. Coming off a poor performance in Super Bowl LV, Mahomes and the Chiefs will be determined to bounce back in 2021.
