Join now >Ryan Mathews (neck) has been cleared, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said.
The Eagles will likely make a decision today on Mathews. It’s very much expected that the Eagles will release the 29-year-old back, as he hasn’t even been with the team until he arrived in Philadelphia yesterday and both sides seem to have moved on. It’s great that Mathews is cleared from his vertebrae injury, as there was concern his career might be over after the injury late last season, and there will definitely be some teams interested in his services.

Trent Taylor catches three passes in first preseason game.
The Niners rookie had three receptions for 33 yards. Taylor should be a lock for the final roster, and he does have a chance to contribute behind Pierre Garçon and Marquise Goodwin as a reliable target for Brian Hoyer.

WR Phillip Dorsett is back practicing for the Colts.
The third-year receiver missed a few practices with a hamstring injury, but he’s back and expects to play in the team’s second preseason game this Saturday, according to the IndyStar. Dorsett, Chester Rogers, and Kamar Aiken are all competing for the number three spot behind top two receivers T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief. These next couple weeks of practices and preseasons games are huge for Dorsett if he wants to have a big role this season. Even if he does win the job, the former first-round pick might not deliver much fantasy value behind Hilton and Moncrief, though.

Carlos Hyde gets a few touches in preseason opener.
The fourth-year back had two carries for no yards and one reception for three yards. The starters didn’t play much at all for the Niners, but they should get more action in the next couple preseason games. Rookie back Joe Williams was impressive in the game, but Hyde’s starting role isn’t in danger after his impressive offseason and training camp practices.

Jay Cutler will play in the Dolphins’ preseason game on Thursday.
Yesterday, head coach Adam Gase said it was trending towards yes, and he just said his new quarterback will indeed play against the Ravens. We’ll get a nice look at how comfortable Cutler is with the offense and his new teammates after just a short time with the team. You shouldn’t put too much stock into the performance guys like DeVante Parker and Jarvis Landry with Cutler at quarterback for the first time on Thursday, but it’ll still be interesting to watch.

Ryan Griffin injures shoulder in preseason opener.
Griffin was 4/9 for 57 yards before exiting the game. Battling with Ryan Fitzpatrick for the backup quarterback job, this couldn’t have come at a worse time for the 27-year-old. Hopefully it isn’t a serious injury and he will be able to get back on the field and compete; Griffin is said to be the slight favorite over Fitzpatrick, whom struggled last night.

Laquon Treadwell said he worked on the technical aspect of his game this offseason.
The Vikings receiver said he always had a lot of talent that allowed him to win, but that everyone in the NFL is talented like him. Treadwell said “I learned over the offseason and spent a lot of time learning how to be a true receiver instead of just relying on God-given talent and ability,” while noting that he watched how teammates Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen play “technically sound” made him realize he needs to do that too. Last year’s 2016 first-round pick of the Vikings said back in the offseason that the game was moving a lot slower for him now, and by all accounts he’s been performing at a high level this year. Treadwell has some breakout potential in 2017.
