Latimer was charged with multiple violations earlier this offseason, but he claims he had good reason for it if you want to look into the disturbing situation yourself. Anyway, Latimer will get paid as he stays on the Exempt List while the legal process and the NFL’s own process is worked out.

Richie James Jr. suffered a broken wrist.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo says James is expected to miss at least two months with the injury. We would expect James will be ready to go for Week 1, but he’s in a competitive Niners receiving corps and could struggle to get consistent playing time on offense if he misses too much time this summer during camp. From a fantasy perspective, James is now off the radar for most redraft leagues.

49ers give Raheem Mostert new contract.
Mostert’s agent Brett Tessler just tweeted, “Just finalized a new deal for Raheem Mostert with the San Francisco 49ers. Happy we got things worked out and looking forward to him having another great season there. Thanks to the organization for taking care of him.” Mostert recently requested a new contract or a trade, but the Niners are somewhat surprisingly giving the fast runner what he wanted. Perhaps San Francisco missing out on All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, who was traded to the Seahawks over the weekend, made them more willing to give Mostert a bump in pay. Mostert will again play a big role in Kyle Shanahan’s offense after his breakout 2019 stretch.

Deebo Samuel broke his foot, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
More specifically, Rapoport says it’s a Jones fracture for Samuel, an injury that’s seemingly been somewhat common with wide receivers over the years. The promising second-year receiver is having foot surgery today and is reportedly expected to miss 12-16 weeks, which puts him on a timeline to potentially be ready as early as Week 1 and as late as early October. Of course, the hard-nosed Samuel will want to get on the field as soon as possible, but ideally the team and player will ensure he’s 100% healthy to avoid a re-fracture after he returns. Samuel’s recovery will be something to watch all summer.

The Browns placed Dontrell Hilliard on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
You do not need to test positive for COVID-19 to be placed on this new list, as you can also be placed on reserve/COVID-19 if you were in close contact with an infected person. Expect a bunch of players to be placed on the list when all veterans start to report to training camp this week.

Josh Gordon officially applied for reinstatement yesterday.
Gordon is currently serving another indefinite suspension, but he hopes to get cleared and land with a team this summer ahead of the 2020 season. Still somehow only 29 years old, Gordon is several years removed from his sensational All-Pro campaign in 2013, but he has the natural talent to contribute to a team if he can stay clean. Hopefully Gordon finds self-control and can go on to have a strong second act in the NFL.

The Eagles waived Shelton Gibson.
A bunch of teams are cutting down their rosters today ahead of training camp, and Gibson is unfortunately a victim to Philadelphia’s likely-COVID-caused roster cuts. Gibson was also waived by the Eagles last year and later landed back with the team during the postseason.
