Bryce Love | Free Agent RB

Bryce Love (knee) has been cleared.

This was thought to be the case yesterday when Love was not placed on the PUP list. Love suffered a torn ACL during his final college game at Stanford ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft, but he was arguably a Day 1 or Day 2 talent; it’s great to hear he’s been cleared and can finally get back on the field. Washington has a very crowded backfield—perhaps the deepest running back group in the league—but Love is a dynamic talent worth keeping an eye on as the season approaches.

Brandon Bolden | Free Agent RB

Multiple reports: Brandon Bolden is planning to opt out of the 2020 season.

Bolden will be the fifth Patriots player to opt out of the year due to COVID-19. The versatile running back is an excellent special-teams contributor for New England, but his decision doesn’t have a huge fantasy impact. Bolden’s contract will toll over.

Alex Smith | Retired QB

Washington has placed Alex Smith on the PUP list.

This has been the expectation from earlier today, and now it’s official. Remaining on the PUP list allows Smith to work out on the side without participating in actual practice, and the veteran quarterback will also be a great presence for Dwayne Haskins and Kyle Allen. Smith’s amazing comeback story continues, and he can be activated off the PUP and onto the roster at any time. Hopefully we see him back on the field for game action this season or the next.

Richie James | Free Agent WR

Richie James Jr. was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

James is among the over a dozen players that have been placed on the new list as veterans report to training camp today and tomorrow. James already has solid chemistry with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but he’ll look to get off the reserve/COVID-19 list and back into the mix soon.

Dan Vitale | Free Agent FB

Dan Vitale is opting out of the 2020 season.

Vitale signed a one-year deal with the Patriots earlier this offseason, and his contract will toll over to next season after his opt out due to COVID-19 concerns. Vitale and his wife Caley are parents to a newborn baby, so he’s understandably being cautious during this crazy year.

Ke'Shawn Vaughn | 49ers RB

The Buccaneers placed Ke’Shawn Vaughn on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Vaughn either has the coronavirus or came in close contact with someone that has it. This isn’t ideal for the rookie as he looks to get early quality snaps in a Tom Brady-led offense, but hopefully the third-round pick is able to get cleared soon.

7/27/20 - 05:35 PM ET

Justin Jefferson | Vikings WR

Justin Jefferson placed on reserve/COVID-19 list.

Teams cannot disclose whether a player actually has COVID-19, but being placed on the list means they either have the virus or came in close contact with someone that has the virus. Regardless, the first-round rookie receiver might now miss the start of training camp as he looks to get cleared so he can join the rest of his teammates in activities.
