Rex Burkhead | Free Agent RB

Rex Burkhead has restructured his contract.

Burkhead remains in the final year of his contract with the Patriots, but he restructures to remain with the team and create nearly $1 million in cap space. The veteran running back is a great team player that will contribute on both offense and special teams whenever called upon, but he’ll likely go undrafted in most 2020 fantasy leagues.

Diontae Johnson | Browns WR

Diontae Johnson (core muscle injury) hopes to be cleared soon.

Johnson, who underwent sports hernia surgery earlier this offseason, told reporters that he injured his groin in the second game of the year last season and played through the injury, and that he hopes to get fully cleared “in the next couple of days.” The 2019 third-round pick is coming off a promising rookie campaign in which he caught 59 passes for 680 yards and five touchdowns, and he’s already being tapped as a big breakout candidate in 2020. Expect Johnson to be ready to go for the start of training camp this summer.

DeShone Kizer | Free Agent QB

The Raiders cut DeShone Kizer, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Las Vegas did not add any quarterbacks during the draft, but the top two on their depth chart is locked in with Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota, with Nathan Peterman also currently in the mix. Kizer, a second-round pick of the Browns in 2017, is set to join his fourth NFL team in four seasons.

Ben Braunecker | Free Agent TE

The Bears released Ben Braunecker.

Braunecker will look to land with another squad throughout training camp, and he was in a tough spot with Chicago given that they still have several tight ends on the roster. From a fantasy perspective, Braunecker is off the radar for now.

Patrick Mahomes | Chiefs QB

UPDATE: Patrick Mahomes’ contract extension is worth up to $503 million.

This is the biggest contract in sports history, and it surpasses the $426.5 million deal Angels star Mike Trout signed last year among American sports. There are reportedly some opt-outs and a no-trade clause for Mahomes. The bottom line is that Mahomes will remain in Kansas City for years and will make a ton of money in the process.

Jamal Agnew | Falcons WR

The Lions plan to move Jamal Agnew to receiver this summer, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Agnew is an explosive former All-Pro punt returner that’s started his career as a defensive back, but he’s working at both receiver and defensive back during virtual offseason training, and Birkett says the team plans to use the fourth-year player “exclusively” at receiver when the team hits the field this summer. Agnew has dabbled on offense in his career, but it’ll be interesting to see him commit all his time to that side of the ball moving forward. From a fantasy perspective, Agnew is just someone to keep an eye on for now, but he ultimately might be a bigger asset for the Lions than a fantasy contributor in 2020.

Cooper Rush | Ravens QB

The Giants claimed Cooper Rush.

Rush remains in the NFC East and lands in New York with his former head coach Jason Garrett, who is now the offensive coordinator for the Giants. Rush will compete for the backup job behind franchise quarterback Daniel Jones this summer.
