Join now >The Texans signed DeAndre Carter to a contract extension.
Carter was third in the league with a 9.7 yards per punt return average last season, and he’s performed well on offense when given the opportunity. Houston continues to commit to players currently within the organization ahead of the start of free agency next week.

The Cowboys are signing Blake Jarwin to an extension.
Jarwin was set to officially become a restricted free agent on Wednesday, but he’s returning to Dallas on a three-year, $24.25 million extension according to NFL Network. This deal indicates Jarwin is almost certainly going to be the top tight end for the Cowboys in 2020, and it would be a slight surprise if longtime Cowboy Jason Witten returns to the team at this point.

The Rams waived JoJo Natson, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Natson was set to become a restricted free agent, so this is a slight surprise. However, if no other team claims Natson, this will give him an opportunity to get a jump-start on free agency before the floodgates open next week at the start of the new league year. Natson should draw interest for his contributions on special teams as a returner.

The Texans are trading Hopkins to the Cardinals, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The David Johnson trade will include Hopkins heading back to Arizona, and Houston will also reportedly receive a second-round pick while the teams swap fourths. Speculation ran pretty rampant in the past 12 hours about a potential Hopkins trade, and it makes a lot of sense for both Houston and Arizona to make this deal. While the All-Pro Hopkins is obviously a great talent, the Texans should be just fine without him on offense—and the team might not have been happy that “Nuk” would sometimes visibly show his frustration when he didn’t get the ball, even when the team was performing well offensively. For Arizona, they are getting extremely aggressive as they try to surround franchise quarterback Kyler Murray with a ton of talent. This trade will become official on Wednesday at 4:00 PM ET.

The Panthers re-signed Kyle Allen.
This was fully expected, as Allen is an exclusive rights free agent, and he made 12 starts for Carolina last season. The talented former undrafted quarterback has played pretty well through two NFL seasons, and he’s the early favorite to be the backup quarterback for the Panthers in 2020.

The Cowboys picked up Jamize Olawale’s team option.
Olawale is a versatile player that contributes on special teams, but this is notable news for Dallas from a real-life perspective and not critical from a fantasy football perspective, though perhaps new head coach Mike McCarthy will want to get him more involved toward the goal line in particular.

Darren Fells has agreed to a two-year extension with the Texans, according to Ian Rapoport.
The veteran scored seven touchdowns for Houston last year, so this is a smart move to get him back despite all the young tight ends on the roster. Aside from what he brings to the passing game as a red-zone threat at six-foot-seven, Fells is a standout blocker. The contract will reportedly pay him $7 million over the next two years.
