Join now >The Chiefs are signing Tyreek Hill to a three-year contract extension, according to multiple reports.
The deal is reportedly worth $54 million, which puts him at $18 million per year. There was talk that the Chiefs were still negotiating a contract extension with Hill, but it’s still surprising that they’re handing him this big contract just months after it looked like the All-Pro receiver was in danger of being suspended for a long period of time or kicked out of the league entirely for a alleged abuse of his young son and on-tape audio of him threatening his then-fiancee. Kansas City must have felt good about Hill’s off-field situation, but hopefully Hill behaves the right way moving forward after being handed a boatload of money. From a fantasy perspective, Hill’s long-term outlook is obviously strong with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, barring any off-field issues.

Darren Waller catches seven passes in Week 1.
Waller gained 70 yards on his seven receptions in the Raiders’ win over the Broncos. The receiver-turned-tight-end lined up in a variety of spots throughout the night, being used similarly to the way Jared Cook was used last season for Oakland (and some of the other top receiving tight ends in the NFL). It’s also worth noting that during the Monday Night Football broadcast, it was revealed that the Raiders coaches told the ESPN crew that they believe Waller can be the best tight end in the league. Waller looks like he’ll offer a great mix of a consistent weekly floor and ceiling at tight end this season.

Anthony Miller sees limited action in Week 1 loss.
Miller was noticeably absent for much of the game, which is a surprise considering he didn’t have an injury designation, though missed time in camp may have led to fewer snaps. While Miller is a definite hold based on talent, it was a concern to see Tarik Cohen have a role in the slot, and fantasy owners should probably look elsewhere until something changes.

Tyreek Hill will not require surgery, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Hill will miss a few weeks, but not needing surgery is obviously a great sign, and fantasy owners can probably expect him back at some point in October. Sammy Watkins gets a big boost and is an immediate WR1 option for the next few games, and Mecole Hardman is worth picking up as a high-upside weapon.

Mitchell Trubisky struggles in opening night loss to the Packers.
Trubisky was 26/45 for 228 yards and one interception in a 10-3 defeat, and he added just 11 yards on the ground. Overall, it was a rough night for the third-year signal-caller, as Trubisky showed inconsistent accuracy and left some plays on the field. That said, Green Bay has an underrated defense, and Matt Nagy might be putting too much pressure on Trubisky by continually rotating in different personnel groupings rather than sticking with a core that works. The offense should improve with more reps together, but it might be time to simplify things. For now, fantasy owners rolling with Trubisky should look in another direction as the Bears head to Denver for Week 2.

Tyrell Williams goes over 100 yards in Raiders’ Week 1 win.
Williams caught six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos. The score came in the first quarter on a laser throw from Derek Carr, and the team’s new No. 1 receiver played up to the big contract he received as a free agent in the offseason. Williams also hauled in a long reception on a deep ball on a deep post, and he was targeted on another post route late in the game. The former Chargers certainly looks ready to assume the No. 1 role for the Raiders, which shouldn’t be surprising after his quarterback said he thought he could be a 100-catch guy if he was featured on an offense. Williams is almost certainly an end-of-bench player for your roster as a late-round draft pick or waiver-wire add, but it’s probably a good idea to try and get him into lineups for a potential shootout in Week 2 versus the Chiefs. He has definite top-20 upside this season.

Trey Burton (groin) is inactive for Thursday night’s game against the Packers.
It felt like this would be the case, and Burton is now officially out. Adam Shaheen should draw the start, but he probably isn’t worth considering as a desperation option with so many options available in Week 1. This is slight boost to the rest of the Chicago weapons.
