Join now >The Lions claimed J.D. McKissic.
McKissic gives the Lions more depth as a versatile running back that can also contribute as a receiver and on special teams. McKissic might get a few snaps per game to start, but he’s not a recommended fantasy option right now.

The Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott are “aiming to wrap up a new deal this weekend,” according to ESPN.
The two sides seemed to be growing further apart in recent days, but this report by Adam Schefter suggests a deal will be struck before Week 1. While Elliott apparently wants a contract that will make him the league’s highest-paid running back, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him accept less than that as Jerry Jones continues effectively negotiating through the media. Zeke could even be hearing talk of Dallas potentially starting the season 3-0 without him, which would only devalue him not only in the eyes of the Cowboys, but also the entire NFL. Elliott will be worth a top-five pick if he signs soon.

The Lions re-signed Logan Thomas.
Thomas was released by the Lions yesterday, but the move was made to create a roster space. He’s not back in the mix at tight end for Detroit, but he’s off the fantasy radar for now.

The Vikings released D’Angelo Henderson.
Minnesota is pretty much set at running back, so it was going to be difficult for Henderson to make the final roster. The 2017 sixth-round pick should at least draw interest for a practice squad spot somewhere.

The Redskins claimed Wendell Smallwood.
Smallwood runs hard and could carve out a role at some point for the Redskins, but this move might have been made to give the Redskins some insight on the Eagles playbook ahead of their Week 1 matchup. Smallwood isn’t on the fantasy radar right now.

The 49ers places Jerick McKinnon on injured reserve.
McKinnon’s season is now over. This is really unfortunate news for McKinnon, who had issues as he tried to come back from last summer’s ACL tear. Another surgery might be an option for McKinnon, but either way his season is over. McKinnon has yet to see the field for San Fransisco since signing a four-year, $30 million deal in free agency last year.

The Lions released Logan Thomas.
Thomas was released to make room for J.D. McKissic. The former quarterback turned tight end should find a new team soon.
