Join now >The Eagles waived/injured Shelton Gibson.
Gibson is dealing with an ankle injury and is considered week-to-week, but he’ll revert to Philadelphia’s injured reserve if he goes unclaimed on waivers. The 2017 fifth-round pick had an uphill climb to make the Eagles 53-man roster.

The Browns waived Jaelen Strong.
Strong got some run with the first-team offense during the preseason, but the Browns are going in another direction at receiver. The 2015 third-round pick of the Texans was signed by Cleveland in February.

Cedrick Wilson left Saturday night’s game after a hit to the head.
Wilson was down for a bit after an illegal hit from 49ers safety Adrian Colbert (who was ejected), but he fortunately walked off on his own power. The second-year receiver is likely dealing with a concussion, so hopefully he is able to get cleared soon and continue making a case for a roster spot in the second preseason game next week.

Cam Newton (foot) is expected to practice this week.
NFL Network’s Tiffany Blackmon spoke with Panthers head coach Ron Rivera, who said that Newton is “sore” but will get practice reps this week in preparation for Week 1. It sounds like Cam’s foot is a very minor issue that might limit his practice time some leading up to the season opener, but he’ll likely look like his usual self when he’s out there against the Rams. Newton might have been frustrated that he was hurt during the preseason more than anything, and last night’s scare should be a non-issue soon.

Jordan Reed is in the concussion protocol.
This isn’t surprising after Reed was evaluated for a concussion during last night’s preseason game, and this is at least the fourth concussion of Reed’s career, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The most important thing is that Reed feels better soon, but fantasy owners cannot count on him getting cleared for Week 1. We’ll keep you updated, but this could be a length absence for a player with a history of concussions. Vernon Davis would have intriguing TE1 upside if forced into the starting role for the Redskins.

Trent Taylor has a broken foot.
This came out of nowhere and was just announced during the Niners’ preseason game broadcast. Taylor had surgery to have a screw inserted into his foot yesterday, and the team hopes that he’s back early in the regular season. A broken foot typically takes at least a handful of weeks to heal, and it’d likely be good news if Taylor is back sometime in September. This is a big blow to San Francisco’s offense, as Taylor was locked in as the team’s starting slot receiver and was expected to have a key role as a heavily-targeted player for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The Niners need someone—perhaps second-round rookie Deebo Samuel or veteran Jordan Matthews—to step up and claim the slot role while Taylor is out of the lineup. Taylor doesn’t need to be drafted in fantasy leagues after this injury.

Amari Cooper is dealing with a heel strain.
Cooper has been dealing with multiple injuries this summer, but they all appear to be minor. This could be a case of Cooper wanting to take it easy as he looks to secure a new long-term contract soon. You probably don’t need to downgrade Cooper on your fantasy draft board because of the injuries he’s dealt with in recent weeks. It seems unlikely we see Cooper in the preseason, though.
