Join now >Nate Sudfeld is expected to miss six weeks after wrist surgery, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
This is probably a good result after Sudfeld broke his wrist in last night’s preseason game. The Eagles can be confident in Cody Kessler while Sudfeld recovers, and then they’ll make a decision on the backup quarterback behind Carson Wentz when Sudfeld is back to 100%.

Daurice Fountain suffered a dislocated and fractured ankle, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
This is tough to hear, and Rapoport says Fountain will have surgery right away after the injury was just recently suffered in today’s practice. Fountain is almost certainly headed for injured reserve, and we wish him the best of luck on surgery and rehab.

Andy Reid says the Chiefs will use a committee backfield this season.
On SiriusXM NFL Radio, Reid was asked about running a committee with all the guys in the backfield he has available, and he said that he did that a little bit during his time as the head coach of the Eagles. Reid said, “we had some success with it [in Philadelphia]. We’ll do that here,” and he went on to add that all the running backs on the Chiefs “have their strengths, and we’ll try to exploit their strengths.” This doesn’t sound good for Damien Williams’ chances of being a near-workhorse like he was toward the end of last season and into the postseason, but keep in mind that Kansas City has made it clear all year that Williams is their starter. Also, the way the question was framed, it might have been difficult for Reid to say the other guys behind Williams won’t get a ton of playing time. Overall, this is a slight knock on Williams’ fantasy value, but there’s no reason to panic yet after the way he played last season. What would really hurt Williams is if another runner like Carlos Hyde takes away goal-line carries, limiting Williams’ touchdown potential.

Derrius Guice is playing for the Redskins tonight.
This was expected to happen, and Guice is officially out there playing for the first time since last preseason’s ACL tear. Expect Guice to work as the 1B ball-carrier behind Adrian Peterson in Washington’s backfield this season. The 2018 second-round pick has the talent to make a big impact if he works his way into a near-workhorse role at some point, but he’s a better dynasty than redraft asset for now.

Austin Fort suffered a torn ACL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Fort is an undrafted rookie tight end from Wyoming that was battling for a roster spot on a Broncos team that’s dealing with multiple injuries at his position. You hate to hear this for a first-year player looking to break into the NFL, but hopefully Fort gets back to 100% for training camp next season and can compete for a roster spot.

Daurice Fountain suffers non-contact injury in practice.
This is terrible luck for Fountain, who is entering his second NFL season after being selected in the fifth round of last year’s draft. We’ll update you as more information becomes available, but the cart is out and it sounds like it might be a long-term injury for Fountain.

Geno Smith had a cyst removed from his knee.
It’s a minor procedure, and the Seahawks hope Smith misses just a week. This gives former Broncos’ first-round pick Paxton Lynch more practice reps and snaps for the second week of the preseason as he looks to win the backup quarterback job in Seattle.
