Join now >The Saints waived/injured Matthew Dayes.
It’s unclear what type of injury Dayes is dealing with, but he’ll revert back to the injured reserve of the Saints if he clears waivers.

Geno Smith (knee) is back for the Seahawks.
Smith had a cyst removed from his knee, but he’s now fine, and Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says he’ll play a lot in the team’s third preseason game this week. Smith is vying for the backup job behind Russell Wilson.

The Saints signed Kerwynn Williams.
New Orleans continues to shuffle their running back room behind Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray, and this signing is a corresponding move to the team placing a waived/injured designation on Matthew Dayes. Williams was with the Buccaneers earlier this year, and he’ll now look to earn a roster spot with the Saints this summer.

Kenyan Drake might not be ready for Week 1.
Dolphins head coach Brian Flores says that Drake, who was seen in a walking boot and not practicing this morning, will be out a while. However, the team is hopeful that Drake is ready for the season opener, so it sounds like the injury isn’t too serious. Drake will almost certainly not play again this preseason, so second-year running back Kalen Ballage will handle most of the first-team reps and is probably a good bet to start for Miami in Week 1. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available on Drake’s exact injury and return timetable.

The Packers have released Corey Grant.
Green Bay just signed Grant a couple of weeks ago, but they’re going in a different direction in a crowded running back group. However, Grant shouldn’t have much trouble getting more interest around the league as someone that can contribute on both offense and special teams.

Melvin Gordon’s holdout is expected to continue into the regular season, according to Ian Rapoport.
This seemed like a possibility as soon as we found out about Gordon’s holdout, especially because of his previous support for Le’Veon Bell last year. Unlike Bell, though, Gordon will need to show up at some point to hit free agency in 2020, so the most likely scenario may be the former first-round pick showing up around midseason and playing down the stretch for what the Chargers will hope is a Super Bowl run. Fantasy owners will ideally hold off until September to draft, but those drafting soon may want to push Gordon down outside the top-35 at the position. It’s worth mentioning that a trade theoretically remains a possibility.

Jerick McKinnon is getting platelet rich plasma injection in his knee and will miss two weeks.
McKinnon experienced soreness in his knee after practicing for just two days, so this obviously isn’t a good sign for his 2019 outlook. Head coach Kyle Shanahan says he will get back in the mix, but this is news almost certainly locks in Tevin Coleman as the 1A and Matt Breida as the 1B. Hopefully McKinnon can get 100% healthy before the regular season.
