Nick Foles says the Jaguars need to get Leonard Fournette the ball.

There’s been talk this offseason and into training camp that Jacksonville wants to get Fournette more involved in the passing game, and the team’s quarterback added to that, saying that Fournette is “very talented catching the ball.” Foles added that he’s catching passes in practice “every single day” and is “a special back and we need to get him the ball.” The former Super Bowl MVP takes what the defense gives him and has no issue checking the ball down, and Fournette has the ability to make plays as a pass-catcher. Fournette’s career-high in receptions is 36, set in his rookie season in 2017, but don’t be surprised if he hits 50+ receptions this season. There’s risk after an up-and-down first two NFL seasons, but Fournette offers obvious upside in 2019 fantasy drafts.

The Dolphins have signed Jakeem Grant to a four-year extension, according to Ian Rapoport.

Grant only has 34 career receptions through three seasons, but he is a valuable returner for a Miami team that needs any edge it can get. Last season, Grant returned both a kickoff and punt for a touchdown, and perhaps he will have an expanded offensive role under a new coaching staff.

The Cowboys waived Rico Gathers.

Gathers started four games for the Cowboys last season, but they’re going in another direction after they feel the former Baylor basketball star didn’t make enough progress this year. The 25-year-old has a one-game suspension to serve to start this season, but other teams should be intrigued by his athleticism. He’ll likely land elsewhere soon.

Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer wants Chris Carson to get about 50 targets this season.

There’s been a lot of talk about Carson having exceptional hands and the Seahawks wanting to use him more in the passing game, but this is relatively modest compared to other workhorse running backs (12 running backs had over 75 targets in 2018). However, Carson had just 24 targets last season, so getting into the 50-range could easily lead to double the receptions he had last year (20). Overall, Carson has obvious 300-touch potential this season, and he’s currently a major value in terms of average draft position.

The Colts waived Keith Ford.

This is a corresponding move to the team claiming running back D’Onta Foreman off waivers from the Texans. After playing well when given the opportunity as an undrafted rookie for the Bills last season, Ford should receive interest from other teams soon if he doesn’t get claimed.

The Chargers signed Dontrelle Inman, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Inman asked to be released by the Patriots after Josh Gordon was reinstated, so this is definitely an interesting landing spot and one that he knows after playing for the Chargers from 2014 to 2016. The top three receivers should be locked in, but Inman may be able to carve out a role by stealing snaps from Travis Benjamin.

The Colts claimed D’Onta Foreman, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson.

After surprisingly getting waived by the Texans yesterday, Foreman lands with an AFC South rival. Indianapolis has a crowded running back room that includes Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, and Jordan Wilkins, but Foreman certainly has the talent to beat out Wilkins for a spot on the depth chart as the primary early-down backup to Mack. Coming back from the 2017 Achilles injury remains an obstacle for Foreman, but he’s an intriguing dynasty-league hold.
