A hand injury in August isn’t normally something that would knock a player out for the season, but Butler has struggled to climb the depth chart to start his career, so as Rapoport says, this could basically be a “redshirt year” for Arizona’s fourth-round pick. We really liked Butler’s talent coming out of Iowa State—he averaged 22.0 yards per reception in 2018—but it might not be the worst thing in the world to get healthy, improve in the offseason, and come back stronger next summer. Dynasty owners should have a prime opportunity to buy low if the rookie is eventually placed on IR.

A.J. Brown remains out of practice with a hamstring issue.
Brown was injured in his first training camp practice, and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel called him day-to-day. But it’s now been over a week since the injury, and the second-round rookie receiver has not returned to the practice field yet. The Titans have a crowded receiving corps that includes former first-round pick Corey Davis and free-agent signing Adam Humphries, so it’ll be more difficult for Brown to earn a huge role if he keeps missing time. However, he’s a pro-ready receiver, so hopefully he can get on the field soon and earn the trust of his quarterback.

Colts owner Jim Irsay says Andrew Luck is dealing with a bone issue in his calf.
Irsay was on SiriusXM NFL Radio says Luck is dealing with a “small little bone” issue that has nothing to do with his Achilles, adding: “But I really feel very confident that he’s going to find his way through this thing.” It truly sounds like Luck’s injury isn’t thought to be something that will affect his Achilles, but the mystery around the situation remains a concern. Luck has been dealing with the calf issue since the spring, and there doesn’t seem to be a timetable for his return—just hope from both the player and the team that he’s ready for the start of the season. Perhaps Irsay’s comments will lead to more questions and us getting more answers regarding the exact injury Luck is thought to be dealing with.

The Texans have waived D’Onta Foreman.
This is a bit of a shocker considering the optimism the team has expressed with the third-year running back entering 2019. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle says the Texans “weren’t happy with [Foreman’s] work habits.” Foreman was selected in the third round of the 2017 draft, but he struggled after tearing his Achilles during his rookie season, and Houston apparently wasn’t happy with how he’s attacked this summer at full health. The Texas product is a talented runner and shouldn’t have much trouble finding a new team; we expect one of the other 31 teams will claim him off waivers. From a fantasy perspective, this gives Lamar Miller an obvious boost, as he’ll potentially be a near-workhorse running back for the Texans—unless this move opens the door for the team to make a trade for Chargers star Melvin Gordon.

The Chiefs have re-signed De’Anthony Thomas.
The self-proclaimed original “Black Mamba” is back with the Chiefs after lasting months as a free agent after last season. Thomas has played for the Chiefs for five seasons, but he’s still just 26 years old. The former Oregon star will likely be a better real-life contributor as a versatile and explosive situational playmaker than he will a fantasy asset in 2019.

Spencer Ware’s injury is an ankle injury.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Ware is having ankle surgery, with a five-to-six week recovery time. Ware will miss the first six games of the season while on the PUP list anyway, so he can take things slow with his recovery. The veteran running back should see the field this season, but he probably isn’t worth drafting to take up a roster spot in fantasy leagues.

Matt LaCosse suffered a sprained ankle, according to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.
LaCosse was rolled up on during last week’s preseason game, and McBride says he will not play in the second week of the preseason. If it’s a high-ankle sprain, LaCosse will likely have trouble returning in the preseason and might be in jeopardy for the beginning of the regular season. Overall, LaCosse doesn’t need to be drafted in standard-sized leagues as things stand.
