Join now >Antonio Brown lost his grievance to wear his old helmet, according to USA Today’s Mike Jones.
This was fully expected, as the NFL and NFLPA have a joint policy for the helmets that must be worn for the sake of player safety, so it was going to be tough for Brown to get an exception. AB has made it pretty clear that he doesn’t mind walking away from football, though we’ll see if his stance of not playing if he can’t wear his old helmet was just posturing in an attempt to get a ruling in his favor from the arbitrator, or if it was serious. Stay tuned because with the way Brown has acted in the last year, we shouldn’t be surprised by anything that happens. Tomorrow’s episode of ‘Hard Knocks’ on HBO should be fun.

The Seahawks waived/injured Tyrone Swoopes.
Swoopes is dealing with an injury to his foot or lower leg. The former Texas quarterback and converted tight end will revert back to Seattle’s injured reserve if he clears waivers.

N’Keal Harry is dealing with multiple injuries.
Harry did not practice for the Patriots today, and NFL Network’s Mike Giardi says the first-round rookie receiver is “battling a variety of ailments including a hammy & a toe or ankle.” It’s unclear what the severity of these injuries are, but dealing with multiple injuries could mean a relatively lengthy absence. Harry seems unlikely to play in the Patriots’ second preseason game this Saturday night, and he’s in danger of falling behind in a complex offense after reportedly already having an up-and-down summer to this point. We’ll keep track of the Arizona State product.

Kurt Benkert’s toe injury is a “major one”, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
This is tough to hear for a quarterback that looked good in Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game. Benkert just turned 24, though, so there’s time for him to get healthy and again compete for a role. Even if he misses the rest of this season, Benkert is likely the early favorite to backup Matt Ryan in 2020.

Parris Campbell (hamstring) is still out with a hamstring injury.
Campbell has missed the last ten practices as he deals with his hamstring issue, and he was thought to be nearing a return but felt a little something, so the team has decided to sit him down for a few more days an re-evaluate from there. The second-round receiver should have a chance to start in three-receiver sets for the Colts this season, but he’ll almost certainly need to get back on the field soon to have a solid early-season role.

The Falcons are signing Matt Simms.
After the injury to Kurt Benkert in the Hall of Fame Game, Atlanta is bringing in a third quarterback behind Matt Ryan and Matt Schaub. Simms was with the Falcons form 2015-2017, but he hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2014.

Rishard Matthews has announced his retirement from the NFL.
Matthews left the Saints and was subsequently released last week, and now he’s retiring. The former Dolphins and Titans receiver ends his career with 230 receptions for 3,160 yards and 21 touchdowns. Matthews will turn just 30 this fall, but it sounds like he’s had enough of football and will move forward with other parts of his life.
