Join now >The Colts placed Spencer Ware on the reserve/PUP list.
Ware had been on the active/PUP list, but being placed on the reserve/PUP list means he will miss the first six games of the regular season. This move cleared a roster spot for the Colts, and it means Ware won’t count against the 53-man roster when the regular season begins. Ware was expected to be ready to practice a week or two after the start of camp, but his muscle injury is apparently more serious than the team thought at first. This bodes well for second-year running back Jordan Wilkins’ chances of making the 53-man roster.

The Patriots are signing Cameron Meredith, according to the Boston Globe’s Jim McBride.
Meredith visited New England today, and both sides must have been happy with the visit to come to an agreement so quickly. McBride says Meredith is not expected to travel to Detroit for next week’s joint practices and preseason game, so expect the former Bear and Saint to dig into the playbook in the meantime before jumping into the mix ahead of the second preseason game. The Patriots are deep at receiver, but the depth chart could be pretty wide-open behind Julian Edelman, and Meredith is someone to keep an eye on throughout the rest of the summer.

The Patriots places Cameron Meredith (knee) on the PUP list.
New England is reportedly going to be very patient as they help Meredith work back from his serious knee injury suffered nearly two years ago. Meredith can come off the PUP at any time, and he’d do well to hit the practice field after the team’s first preseason game.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll talks up Chris Carson’s receiving ability.
The running backs for Seattle have been involved in the passing game early in training camp, and Carroll says the team has “no hesitation” to throw to their running backs because “they’re all good.” Carroll pointed out Carson in particularly, saying that he is “really, really good. Chris might have as good of hands as anybody on the team.” Keep in mind that Carroll is an overwhelmingly positive coach, but to say the bruising Carson might have the best hands on the team is extremely high praise, and it’s worth noting that he said 2018 first-round pick Rashaad Penny simply “catches the ball well.” Last season, Carson had just 20 receptions, but he has the all-around ability to make an impact in the passing game. Carson is in a committee, but don’t be surprised if he doubles his reception total from last season to become a better fantasy asset in leagues that award points for receptions.

Kurt Benkert left Thursday night’s Hall of Fame game with a toe injury.
He will not return. Atlanta’s third string quarterback had played well before exiting, but any prolonged absence would probably lock Matt Schuab in as Matt Ryan’s backup.

Jeff Wilson Jr. will miss 1-2 weeks with a calf injury.
Wilson suffered the calf injury in practice on Monday and has missed the last couple of practices, but Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan says he’ll miss a week or two. With Jerick McKinnon (knee) still on the PUP list, San Francisco is lucky to be extremely deep at running back, and they might not need to add anyone else to the backfield mix even with two guys down right now.

The Raiders have claimed Jordan Lasley off waivers.
The 2018 fifth-round pick was just waived yesterday by the Ravens after a fight during practice, though Baltimore said his release wasn’t about the fight. Lasley will join a crowded receiving corps in Oakland, and we should be able to track his status up close during HBO’s Hard Knocks, which begins next Tuesday.
