Dwayne Allen | Free Agent TE

The Dolphins have activated Dwayne Allen off the PUP list.

Allen is a great locker-room presence that was probably helping out even without being on the practice field, but it’ll be good for Miami to get him out there during practice now. The veteran tight end is a better real-life contributor than fantasy asset for 2019.

Julio Jones | Free Agent WR

Julio Jones says he isn’t playing in the preseason.

This really doesn’t mean much from a fantasy perspective, but it should mean there’s less of a chance Jones is injured in the next few weeks before the start of the regular season. With over 1,400 yards in an NFL-record five consecutive seasons, Julio should be locked in as one of the top receivers off the board in fantasy drafts later this summer.

Michael Thomas | Free Agent WR

The Saints are signing Michael Thomas to a five-year contract extension, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The contract is worth $100 million, making Thomas the first offensive player that’s not a quarterback to get a contract of nine figures. This ends the first big holdout of a star player this year, as Thomas will now report to camp as the highest-paid receiver in the league. This new deal for the Saints receiver could lead to Falcons’ All-Pro Julio Jones, who reported to camp despite not receiving a new deal, getting a new contract of his own soon. New Orleans paying a receiver this type of money is a slight surprise, but Thomas is locked in as a huge part of their offense for the next handful of years, including likely past the playing career of future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees. You can comfortable select Thomas early in 2019 fantasy drafts now that the holdout is over.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | Retired QB

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores says it’s “pretty clear” that Ryan Fitzpatrick is leading the team’s quarterback competition.

Flores doesn’t seem like the type of coach that’s going to just hand Josh Rosen the starting quarterback job because the team traded a second-round pick for him. However, it’s worth noting that Flores recently admitted that he might have a player get reps behind others to humble them, and—fair or not—Rosen is seen by some as being arrogant. These comments could be a tactic to get the most out of Rosen or to see how he responds. From a fantasy perspective, it’s probably better for the skill position players of the Dolphins if Fitzpatrick is the starter, as he has no issues taking chances and throwing the ball around the field to his weapons as he showed in Tampa Bay last season.

Sterling Shepard | Buccaneers WR

Sterling Shepard is having an x-ray done on his thumb, according to Jordan Raanan.

This suggests that Shepard may have broken his thumb at practice, but hopefully it’s just precautionary and the results come back negative. If the injury is serious, at least it happened early in camp instead of closer to the season, but Shepard would miss valuably time as he looks to enter the season as the team’s clear No. 1 receiver. There should be an update soon.

A.J. Green | Retired WR

A.J. Green (ankle) will miss at least a few games.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported earlier today that Green might still have a chance to play in Week 1 after undergoing a minor ankle procedure, but Bengals head coach Zac Taylor says that his star receiver will indeed miss regular season time. The hope is that it’s just a few games that Green will miss, indicating that this injury could drag on longer. For now, we should consider a return for Green for the start of October (Week 5 for an October 6 matchup with the Cardinals) as a realistic return date—getting him back at the end of September would be a bonus. There’s risk because the injury could linger all season, but consider Green a high-upside value pick in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.

Keith Ford | Packers RB

The Colts signed Keith Ford.

Ford appeared in two games for the Bills as an undrafted rookie last season, including a start in December. Ford will compete for a role on Indianapolis’ roster this summer, and special-teams contributions will likely be key for him to make the team. He’s not currently on the fantasy radar.
