Dontrelle Inman | Free Agent WR

The Patriots are signing Dontrelle Inman, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

At six-foot-three, Inman gives the Patriots a bigger presence on the outside, and it’s a surprise it took the veteran receiver this long to sign after he stepped in and played well after joining the Colts mid-season last year. Inman will compete for a roster spot this summer, and there’s a chance he carves out a big role catching passes from Tom Brady (especially if Josh Gordon isn’t reinstated), which could lead to 2019 fantasy value. For now, dynasty owners should just keep Inman in mind, and his status for redraft leagues will likely be determined in the preseason.

Derek Anderson | Retired QB

Derek Anderson has retired from the NFL.

Anderson came out of retirement during last season to join the Bills and help them out with their quarterback situation while mentoring rookie Josh Allen, but he’s now officially calling it a career after 14 NFL seasons. Anderson played for the Browns, Cardinals, Panthers, and Bills, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl with Cleveland in 2007 when he threw 29 touchdowns (and 19 interceptions) while leading the team to a 10-5 record in his 15 starts. For his career, Anderson threw for 10,878 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 64 interceptions while completing 54.3% of his passes. We wish Anderson the best in his post-playing-career life.

Jalin Marshall | Free Agent WR

The Raiders have waived Jalin Marshall.

Marshall was just signed by Oakland a couple of days ago, so this is a slight surprise. The former Jets receiver will be free to sign with any team if he clears waivers.

Doug Baldwin | Free Agent WR

The Seahawks have terminated Doug Baldwin’s contract.

In a release that can be read in the link below, the Seahawks announced they are parting ways with Baldwin and safety Kam Chancellor, designating them both with failed physicals. All indications were that Baldwin was going to retire this offseason because of all the injuries he’s sustained throughout his career and the surgeries he’s undergone, but he was reportedly waiting to officially retire because it would mean giving up guaranteed money. Baldwin was undrafted in 2011 but played eight seasons in Seattle and became the team’s No. 1 receiver, and the Seahawks say letting him and Chancellor go was a “difficult decision.” Baldwin is second in Seahawks franchise history in receiving touchdowns (49), and he’s third in both receptions (493) and receiving yards (6,563). Expect Baldwin to retire in the coming days or weeks.

David Williams | Free Agent RB

The Jaguars are waiving David Williams, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Jacksonville has Leonard Fournette, Alfred Blue, Thomas Rawls, Benny Cunningham, and fifth-round rookie Ryquell Armstead all on the depth chart at running back, so the team is moving on from Williams. The Jags also released quarterback Cody Kessler to clear cap space. The 2018 seventh-round pick Williams shouldn’t have trouble landing with a new team.

Cody Kessler | Free Agent QB

The Jaguars released Cody Kessler.

Kessler appeared in five games (four starts) for the Jaguars last season, completing 64.9% of his passes with two touchdowns and two interceptions; but it was a tough situation stepping in as a backup for a team that was reeling in a disappointing season. As a rookie with the Browns in 2016, Kessler threw six touchdowns compared to two interceptions in eight starts. He can certainly be one of the league’s better backup quarterbacks, and he should draw plenty of interest from other teams.

Bruce Ellington | Free Agent WR

The Patriots have released Bruce Ellington.

Ellington was signed by New England on March 14, but New England is already moving on. There’s a chance the Patriots bring Ellington back at some point this spring or summer, but other teams should be interested in signing the 27-year-old if not.
