Kareem Hunt | Chiefs RB

The NFL is suspending Kareem Hunt for eight games, according to ESPN.

Hunt is being suspended for violating the league’s personal conduct policy after hitting a woman in February 2018, and he is reportedly accepting the punishment and not appealing. For the Browns and Hunt, they now have clarity on the situation, as the former league-leading rusher as a rookie will miss half the regular season. Hunt will be able to participate throughout the offseason, training camp, and the preseason, but then he’ll be away from the team from Weeks 1-8 or 1-9 (depending on when Cleveland has its bye week) and can return for the second half of the year. Nick Chubb is set to be a workhorse to open the season, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the second-year back simply runs away with the starting job, making Hunt just a change-of-pace option when he returns—though Hunt has played at a very high level through his first season-plus in Kansas City, and the Browns might give him a sizable workload regardless of how Chubb is playing. Hunt will likely go in the middle rounds of most 2019 fantasy drafts.

Maurice Harris | Free Agent WR

The Patriots signed wide receiver Maurice Harris.

The Redskins surprisingly did not tender Harris, and the big receiver is one of several moves made by New England after most of the big free-agent action took place in previous days. Landing with Tom Brady and the Patriots gives Harris obvious upside if he’s able to carve out a role on offense, and the 26-year-old is worth a speculative pickup in dynasty leagues.

Geoff Swaim | Browns TE

The Jaguars signed tight end Geoff Swaim.

Swaim spent his first four NFL season with the Cowboys, and he’s coming off a career-best season with 26 receptions for 242 yards and a touchdown. The big tight end is a solid run blocker and could chip in as a reliable target for new quarterback Nick Foles. Jacksonville’s tight end spot is pretty wide open as things currently stand.

Jordan Matthews | Panthers TE

The Niners signed Jordan Matthews.

The former Eagles and Bills receiver will now join his third team, and he’ll have a chance to carve out a role as a starter in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Right now, San Francisco’s receiving corps is pretty wide open, though Dante Pettis and Marquise Goodwin are both heavy favorites to be the top two receivers. Matthews might be able to carve out a role in the slot, but he doesn’t look like he’ll be a highly-recommended fantasy option in 2019 at the moment.

Kevin White | Saints WR

Kevin White is signing with the Cardinals, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

After an injury-riddled and disappointing three seasons with the Bears, this is a good spot for the seventh overall pick in the 2015 draft. White simply hasn’t been able to stay healthy and then struggled to get on the field for Chicago when he was healthy, but Arizona presents him with a potential opportunity to immediately win a starting job along with Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk; also, Fitz gives White an ideal player to learn from moving forward. Despite some early-career struggles, White is a very talented player that’s worth looking into as a pickup in dynasty leagues.

Teddy Bridgewater | Lions QB

Teddy Bridgewater is re-signing with the Saints.

Bridgewater just tweeted “‘Run it back Turbo..'” with a picture of him from this past season in New Orleans, and now reports confirm that he is indeed remaining with the Saints as Drew Brees’ backup. While the Dolphins would’ve given Bridgewater a real opportunity to start in 2019, the former first-round pick is clearly hoping to take over for Brees at some point. This is great all-around for both Bridgewater and the Saints, as the team might have the best backup quarterback situation in football (including both Bridgewater and Swiss Army Knife Taysom Hill), and they have their quarterback of the future in place for whenever the future Hall of Famer Brees retires. For fantasy purposes, Bridgewater is an excellent hold in dynasty leagues if you have room on your roster.

Jordy Nelson | Retired WR

The Raiders have released Jordy Nelson, according to multiple reports.

Nelson was recently paid $3 million and seemed likely to stick around in Oakland, but the trade for Antonio Brown and signing of Tyrell Williams changed things. In his lone season as a Raider, Nelson battled injuries, but still finished with 63 receptions for 739 yards and three touchdowns after emerging as the focal-point of the passing attack down the stretch. He will turn 34 at the end of May, but we think Jordy has plenty left to contribute for an NFL team, and a reunion with the Packers certainly makes sense.
