Join now >Lamar Miller held in check as Houston improves to 6-3.
Miller rushed 12 time for 21 yards and caught two passes for 27 yards in a 19-17 victory. Coming off two-straight 100-yard games, it was a disappointing performance from Miller, who was out-touched and out-gained by Alfred Blue (15 carries for 39 yards). The 27-year-old was trending in the right direction, but he should be considered a low-floor FLEX option when Houston returns from their Week 10 bye to face the stout Washington front.

The Bengals have released Christian Hackenberg from the practice squad.
Hackenberg was replaced by former Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook in Cincinnati. It’s obviously not a promising sign for Hackenberg, as he will now seek a new home after already spending time with Oakland and Philly in 2018.

Cordarrelle Patterson scores in Patriots’ win.
With Sony Michel (knee) out for a second straight game, Patterson again received a good amount of work as a running back. He carried 11 times for 61 yards and a touchdown and added one reception for seven yards. The score was on a carry by the goal line, and the dynamic runner/receiver/returner gashed the Packers for chunk yardage. Basically, if the Patriots block it up well, Patterson is exceptional with the ball in his hands so he hits holes and is very effective. It’ll be interesting to see if the Patriots keep giving Patterson traditional hand-offs when Michel gets back in the lineup.

Phillip Lindsay handles 19 touches in Week 9 loss.
Lindsay rushed 17 times for 60 yards, also adding two receptions for 24 yards. The undrafted rookie has taken clear control of the backfield in recent weeks, but Royce Freeman (ankle) is expected to return after the Week 10 bye. Still, Lindsay is at least a low-end RB2/FLEX option in all formats, as he’s rushed for at least 60 yards in all but two games this season. The Broncos travel to take on the Chargers next time out.

Melvin Gordon goes over 100 yards with a touchdown against Seattle.
Returning from his one-game absence because of a hamstring injury (with the bye giving extra time to heal), Gordon rushed 16 times for 113 yards and a touchdown along with one reception for ten yards in the Chargers’ Week 9 win. The touchdown was a 34-yard toss where Gordon received great blocking and then showed his acceleration, speed, and tackle-breaking ability on his way to the end zone. The fourth-year running back is simply a superstar running back that continues to prove the early-career doubters very wrong. At the midway point for the Chargers, he’s on pace for 20 touchdowns despite missing a game. Gordon is among the top fantasy options next week against the Raiders.

Connor Cook has signed with the Bengals practice squad.
Cook replaces fellow Big Ten quarterback Christian Hackenberg in Cincinnati. The former Michigan State star is looking for a permanent home since being released by the Raiders, and the Bengals are as good a team as any to potentially stick around with if he shows well on the practice field. Cook was the No. 100 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling goes over 100 yards in Week 9 loss.
Valdes-Scantling caught three passes (on six targets) for 101 yards, as he made a couple highlight-worthy grabs in one-on-one coverage that forced Bill Belichick to change up the defense late and double Davante Adams while putting Stephon Gilmore of the lengthy rookie. MVS looks to have taken over as the team’s No. 2 receiver, so he’s worth picking up in all leagues heading into a matchup with the Dolphins. That said, we aren’t sure how the playing time will be distributed at wideout when Geronimo Allison is back in the lineup, making Valdes-Scantling a somewhat risky FLEX option.
