The play came in a key spot on the first drive of the fourth quarter to set up a field goal and extend the lead to 23-13, and Pittsburgh ended up holding on, 23-16, to advance to 5-2-1. James finished with two receptions for 53 yards. The Penn State product is on pace for a career-best 42/772/2 line, but his two biggest games over the first two weeks of the season when Vance McDonald wasn’t a factor. That said, he is worth considering as a TE2 option for Week 10 against the Panthers, who have been generous to opposing tight ends.

Falcons shut down Adrian Peterson in Week 9.
Peterson couldn’t get much going against a Falcons defense that’s been playing very well against the run and didn’t allow many gaps for the Redskins to run through. Peterson carried nine times for 17 yards and added three receptions for 16 yards against the Falcons. Through eight games, the future Hall of Famer is on pace for 272 caries, 1,208 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns, 24 receptions, 334 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. He’s had some duds this season, but the volume potential helps make Peterson a strong fantasy option every week.

JuJu Smith-Schuster caught seven passes for 78 yards in Sunday’s win over the Ravens.
Smith-Schuster led the team in receptions and yards, but he couldn’t find the end zone for the sixth time in eight games. At the season’s midway point, the 21-year-old is on pace for a 106/1,344/4 line, so trips to the end zone—which should become more frequent in the second half—are really the only thing holding him back as an elite fantasy option. Consider JuJu a solid WR1 for Thursday night’s matchup against Carolina after they were just torched by Tampa Bay’s slot receiver Adam Humphries (8/82/2).

Samaje Perine gets four touches in Redskins’ loss.
Perine received some work in the Week 9 loss to the Falcons, and he carried the ball well with his opportunities, picking up 11 and nine yards on his carries. Overall, he had two carries for 20 yards and added two receptions for eight yards. The second-year running back has ability, but he isn’t a reliable fantasy option as long as Adrian Peterson remains on the field.
11/5/18 - 09:09 AM ET
Kapri Bibbs scores against the Falcons.
Bibbs scored on an outside run by the goal line in the third quarter, and overall he had three carries for 20 yards and a touchdown along with one reception for 15 yards. Bibbs will have some PPR FLEX value if Chris Thompson (ribs) remains out next week against the Bucs, but he’s ideally just a deep-league option.
11/5/18 - 09:07 AM ET
Jaylen Samuels handles one touch in Week 9 win.
The rookie rushed once for two yards. With James Conner (31 touches) dominating as the clear workhorse, Samuels isn’t a recommended fantasy option.
11/5/18 - 09:06 AM ET
Alex Smith throws one touchdown in Redskins’ loss.
Smith was 30/46 for 306 yards, one touchdown, and one interception along with one carry for 22 yards against the Falcons. Smith was actually the team’s leading rusher with 22 yards, so the Falcons did a great job of limiting Adrian Peterson to make Washington one-dimensional. Smith’s receivers had some drops, but he also again missed some throws—but overall, he played well on a day the Redskins got blown out. Through eight games, the veteran quarterback is on pace for 3,734 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, six interceptions, 70 carries, 238 rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns.
