Join now >The Jaguars have announced that Blake Bortles will remain the team’s starting quarterback.
This is a mild surprise after head coach Doug Marrone said he would talk to the team before naming the starter, but they are sticking with Bortles over former third-round pick Cody Kessler. After Bortles was benched against the Texans, Kessler played well with 156 yards, one touchdown, and one interception (which bounced off T.J. Yeldon’s hands), but they aren’t giving up on the guy who led them to the AFC Championship Game quite yet. Bortles is expected to have a short leash next Sunday in London against the Eagles, so he is almost impossible to trust for fantasy owners. Look for Jacksonville to run early and often with Carlos Hyde in Week 8.

The Bills have announced that Derek Anderson will start again in Week 8.
Josh Allen (elbow) won’t be able to return, so Buffalo is sticking with Anderson after he threw for three interceptions in Sunday’s loss to the Colts. The Bills play on Monday night against the Patriots, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Nathan Peterman get some playing time if Anderson struggles. The veteran isn’t a recommended fantasy option.

Dolphins head coach Adam Gase said that Albert Wilson’s season could be over.
Wilson injured his hip in Sunday’s loss to the Lions, and it immediately sounded like a multi-week injury. Now, we can probably count on him to at least land on injured reserve, while Miami will make DeVante Parker active and give more looks to Jakeem Grant. Also, Danny Amendola should get more looks out of the slot, but none of the three are must-owns, even with Kenny Stills (groin) already ruled out for this week. Parker would be the best add in redraft formats, as the former first-round pick could breakout if given an opportunity.

Ryan Tannehill (shoulder) will not play in Week 8.
This was expected with Miami facing Houston on Thursday night, so Brock Osweiler will be under center again for Adam Gase’s squad. Kenny Stills (groin) and Albert Wilson (hip) also won’t play against the Texans; Osweiler has performed well, but he isn’t a recommended fantasy option in a matchup between 4-3 teams.

Kenny Stills (groin) will not play in Week 8.
Miami plays on Thursday night, so they’ve already ruled their No. 1 receiver out for a matchup with the Texans. Albert Wilson (hip) is also not going to play, so the 4-3 Dolphins will roll with DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant behind Danny Amendola at receiver. It’ll be interesting to see if Adam Gase’s offense makes a move at the position, but Parker is an intriguing add in all fantasy leagues, as he has the talent to make an impact. Stills can probably be dropped in 10- or 12-team leagues that he was owned in.

The Cowboys are acquiring Amari Cooper from the Raiders, according to multiple reports.
Jerraud Powers was the first to report the deal, and ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported the same. Dallas was reportedly doing “due diligence” on the former No. 4 pick in the draft, and now they are apparently acquiring the former top receiver of the Raiders in exchange for a 2019 first-round pick (according to multiple reports). This is a great return for the Raiders, as they add yet another high draft pick to their draft war chest (making it three 2019 first-round picks and two 2020 first-round picks). Jordy Nelson is the team’s number one receiver moving forward and is probably a top-20 WR option for the rest of the season with the passing game running through him. For the Cowboys, they upgrade the weakest position on the roster with a talented former Alabama star, and this is a major upgrade for Dak Prescott and the rest of the offense. Cooper’s fantasy value remains about the same after this trade, as he’ll likely still be inconsistent in a run-first offense.

Rob Gronkowski’s injury is back spasms.
NFL Network’s Mike Giardi says Gronkowski “suffered from painful back spasms Friday” and that they were attempting to alleviate the issue into Saturday. This explains Gronkowski not traveling with the team before ultimately being downgraded to doubtful on Saturday night. The injury is probably a day-to-day thing for now, and the All-Pro tight end might not miss any more time. However, with the Patriots playing next Monday night, fantasy owners could be in a predicament if they aren’t sure Gronk is playing by the time other Week 9 games kickoff. Gronkowski’s status will be monitored throughout the week, and New England’s first official practice of the week will be on Thursday.
