The Vikings signed Tony Brooks-James.

Brooks-James was waived by the Vikings a week ago, but he’s back in the mix already. The 2019 undrafted running back from Oregon will look to win a roster spot this summer or at least make a strong impression to land on the practice squad.

The 49ers are signing J.J. Nelson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

San Francisco is also signing Tavon Austin, so the moves could indicate that Deebo Samuel (foot) will miss regular season action. Nelson is a deep threat that will look to earn a situational role similar to Marquise Goodwin in recent years, but he is unlikely to become a recommended fantasy option.

The 49ers are signing Tavon Austin.

This was the expectation, and the 49ers are set to make it official soon according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Austin is being signed along with J.J. Nelson, and the two of them might compete for one roster spot that would have likely been Travis Benjamin’s before he opted out. Austin provides more versatility to play all over the field on offense and as a returner, but he’ll be on waiver wires to begin the season in standard-sized fantasy leagues.

The Patriots placed Lamar Miller on the PUP list.

New England’s signing of Miller is now official, but the team is also placing the veteran running back on the PUP list for now. We’d think Miller is close to full health but that the Pats want to let him get acclimated and into the swing of things before putting him on the field with the rest of his teammates. Miller is currently on the PUP with Sony Michel among Patriots running backs.

The Chiefs are signing Travis Kelce to a long-term extension, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport says the extension is at least five years, which is a bit of a surprise considering the All-Pro tight end will turn 31 in October. Still, he’s one of the game’s top offensive weapons, and Kansas City is doing what they can to keep a familiar supporting cast around Patrick Mahomes for the future. It will be interesting to see how the contract numbers stack up against George Kittle, but the new deal has no real impact for Kelce from a fantasy perspective—he will again be worth considering in the second round of all formats.

The 49ers are signing George Kittle to a record-breaking contract extension.

It’s a five-year extension worth $75 million, according to NFL Network. This was probably a relatively difficult deal to get done because Kittle is such an impactful player that plays a position that ordinarily would not command close to this much money, but the Niners undoubtedly wanted to keep one of the best overall players in the league and an exceptional team leader on the roster for years. The new deal does not change anything about Kittle’s game or 2020 fantasy value, as the former fifth-round pick always gives maximum effort as a blocker, receiver, and ball-carrier. San Francisco is obviously expecting huge production from Kittle to continue for the next several years, and he’s the No. 1 tight end to own in dynasty leagues.

The Steelers activated Jaylen Samuels off the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Samuels can now join the rest of his teammates on the field as training camp ramps up with more activity. The versatile running back will chip in behind starter James Conner this season for Pittsburgh.
