Zimmer says that Thielen is “improving fast” and might be able to play on Thursday night against the Redskins, but they’ll see how he is tomorrow. It’s still unlikely Thielen plays on a short week, but we’ll let you know how he’s listed on the final Week 8 injury report when it’s released tomorrow. Thielen would do well to be listed as questionable.

Tyrell Williams (foot) officially remains limited in practice.
Williams is stringing together limited practices this week, which indicates his foot is responding pretty well to some activity on the field. Williams is likely headed for a questionable tag when the final Week 8 injury report is released tomorrow.

Adrian Peterson is dealing with an ankle sprain.
Peterson told ESPN’s Josina Anderson that his MRI from yesterday shows that he has a grade 1 high-ankle sprain and a grade 2 low-ankle sprain, so it sounds like it’s something that can certainly hinder him. But Peterson says he’s “good” for this Thursday night against the Vikings, and it’s not surprising that the future Hall of Famer is going to tough it out against his former team. With 20+ carries in each of the past two weeks, expect another heavy workload for Week 8.

Josh Jacobs (shoulder) officially did not practice today.
Jacobs also missed yesterday’s practice, and he looks to be in serious danger of missing this Sunday’s game against the Texans. The rookie running back was able to play through the shoulder issue last week after briefly going into the locker room, but the shoulder likely worsened after the game. The final Week 8 injury report will be released sometime tomorrow, but Jacobs might be on the doubtful side of things for now. DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard will handle most of the backfield work if Jacobs is out.

The Patriots are acquiring Mohamed Sanu.
[UPDATE: The trade was first reported by ESPN.] NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports New England is sending Atlanta a second-round draft pick in exchange for Sanu. While Sanu has been a productive player throughout his career, he’s 30 years old, and the second-round price tag is a bit of a surprise—especially considering the Patriots have Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, and Phillip Dorsett (along with impressive undrafted rookie Jakobi Meyers and first-round pick N’Keal Harry, who has yet to play for the team) at receiver when the group is fully healthy. But New England obviously wanted to upgrade their receiving corps, and the price was steep to get Sanu from Atlanta. The veteran receiver’s fantasy value probably increases with the move to New England, and he’s now an intriguing add on waiver wires for league’s he’s still available in; but this is a better move for the defending Super Bowl champions from a real-life perspective than a move with a huge impact for fantasy owners. Also, this move could indicate Josh Gordon’s knee/ankle issue is something more long-term.

Matt Ryan (ankle) officially did not practice today.
Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said Ryan was not expected to practice early in the week, so the hope has been that he’ll be able to hit the practice field tomorrow. We expect Matty Ice will try to tough it out and play this Sunday against the Seahawks, but he’s looking like a legitimate toss-up at this point.

Bryce Love is getting another knee surgery, according to multiple reports.
NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay first reported that Love needs another knee procedure, but he also reports that “Love’s Combine medicals included notes that another surgery was likely.” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport adds that the surgery is “a minor procedure aimed at speeding up the rehab from his original knee surgery.” The bottom line is that it’s unfortunate that Love has had to deal with this knee injury from his final game at Stanford last season, and this rookie season is basically a redshirt year for him. But Love remains a strong dynasty-league hold as a very talented runner that could make an instant impact whenever he’s able to get on the field.
