Join now >The Niners have promoted Jeff Wilson to the active roster.
This move was expected, as the Niners had just two healthy running backs on the roster. Wilson played well when given the opportunity last season, but he’s not a recommended Week 2 fantasy option behind Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert.

Nick Foles (clavicle) will be placed on injured reserve, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Foles is getting surgery today, and Rapoport says he’ll be placed on injured reserve afterwards. Jacksonville’s starting quarterback will obviously be brought off IR as a designated-to-return player, but he’ll be forced to miss eight weeks. The Jaguars have a Week 10 bye, which is good timing for the eight-week mark, and we should expect to see Foles back out on the field in Week 11 when Jacksonville faces Indianapolis. Sixth-round rookie Gardner Minshew, who went 22-of-25 passing in relief yesterday, will command the offense during Foles’ absence.

Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Week 2.
Thomas did not practice today, but the Jets are still hoping for their new receiver to play on Monday night. Ideally, you’ll have a stronger fantasy option for your Week 1 fantasy lineup than waiting to see if Thomas is active.

Torrey Smith is retiring from the NFL.
A second-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Smith spent his first four seasons in Baltimore, catching 213 passes for 3,591 and 30 touchdowns from Joe Flacco, and his time there included a Super Bowl victory. After that, he spent two years in San Francisco, one in Philadelphia (where he won another ring), and his final season in Carolina—finishing his career with 319 receptions, 5,141 yards, and 41 touchdowns. One of the league’s best deep threats when he was with the Ravens, Smith may have continued putting up big numbers with Flacco throwing passes because the two had great chemistry, but he became more of a role player after leaving Baltimore. The 30-year-old seems likely to take a high-profile job in the public arena.

Le’Veon Bell (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Week 2.
Bell has already said he’s going to play, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t, despite this questionable tag. If there was still a probable injury designation, Bell would likely be listed as that. You can lock him into fantasy lineups for Monday night.

Antonio Brown’s contract with the Patriots has an option for 2020, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The option is for $20 million and is said to help the Patriots for cap purposes this season, so perhaps the two sides agreed the team will not execute the option for next season. However, if everything goes well, $20 million for another year of Brown would be a potential bargain given how much receivers are making on long-term deals now. For dynasty leagues, expect AB to remain in New England for the long-term if (and it’s a big if) he can fit in and behave.

Rashard Higgins (ankle) is officially listed as questionable for Monday night.
Higgins was limited in practice all week and says he’ll play on Monday night, but if he’s unable to go, Taywan Taylor and Damion Ratley would be set for more playing time behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. If you’re planning on using Higgins in your fantasy lineup, check back Monday evening and be sure to have a backup plan from the final game of the week in case he’s inactive.
