This release might have been made now so that Fales gets a chance to sign with another team ahead of final cuts on Saturday. Fales turns 29 in October.

The Jaguars have claimed Seth DeValve.
Jacksonville currently has Geoff Swaim and third-round rookie Josh Oliver atop the depth chart, so he will likely slide in as the No. 3 or No. 4 option at the position.

The Bills are waiving Ray-Ray McCloud.
McCloud played well in the preseason and can contribute on both offense and special teams, but Buffalo’s receiving corps is crowded after adding pieces in the offseason. The 22-year-old should land with a new team quickly, or he could join the Bills practice squad.

The Giants have placed Scott Simonson (ankle) on injured reserve.
Simonson wasn’t expected to have a significant role behind Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison, but this locks in Garrett Dickerson as New York’s No. 3 tight end.

The Colts signed Charcandrick West.
The former Chiefs running back spent five seasons with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2014, but he’ll now look to carve out a role in Indianapolis with the Colts. West might ultimately be a better real-life contributor for his new team than he will be a fantasy asset in 2019.

The Panthers have claimed Ray-Ray McCloud.
McCloud is excellent insurance as a run-after-catch guy that can potentially fill in behind D.J. Moore or Curtis Samuel, but he’s currently off the fantasy radar in redraft leagues.

The Dolphins named Ryan Fitzpatrick their starting quarterback.
This was fully expected, but Fitzpatrick will officially be under center in Week 1 against the tough Ravens defense. From a fantasy perspective, this is probably good news for Miami’s skill position players, particularly talented former first-round pick DeVante Parker. Fitzpatrick won’t be shy giving Parker and the other Dolphins players opportunities to make plays, but Fitzpatrick himself will likely be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups with a potentially-short leash and Josh Rosen likely to see playing time in 2019.
