Join now >David Njoku doesn’t get a target in Week 8.
This was probably the most surprising performance of the week, as Njoku had a good matchup against a Steelers team that has struggled against tight ends this season. However, the Browns did not utilize him like they had been the previous few weeks despite him arguably being their best option in the passing game. Next week, Njoku gets a matchup against a Chiefs team that has also struggled to defend tight ends, but his maddening usage carries obvious downside in fantasy lineups if the Browns opt not to involve him. Through eight games, the second-year tight end is on pace for 62 receptions, 594 yards, and four touchdowns.

The Seahawks have released Brandon Marshall, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The veteran receiver had been phased out of the offense in Seattle, so this isn’t a surprise. It could be the end of a long and productive career for the 34-year-old, but he’s just 30 receptions away from 1,000 for his career and might hope for another team to give him a shot.

Chris Godwin caught two passes for 32 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Bengals.
The second-year receiver didn’t have a great day for fantasy owners, but the targets (seven) were there, and Godwin was able to convert the game-tying two-point conversion on a clutch play between he and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Also, DeSean Jackson reportedly requested a trade, so Godwin would stand to get a huge boost if he’s able to stay on the field as a full-time player down the stretch. As things currently stand, he should be considered a solid FLEX option with a good chance of scoring next Sunday in Carolina.

The Eagles are acquiring Golden Tate.
Tate announced the move himself on Twitter, and the Eagles quickly confirmed the news themselves. It’s a third-round pick going to Detroit in exchange for Tate, according to multiple reports. Tate joins Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor in a stacked wide receiver group—along with tight ends Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert—for quarterback Carson Wentz. Tate’s fantasy value probably takes a slight dip with the move, as Wentz loves throwing to Jeffery and Ertz, and Tate will be no better than No. 3 or No. 4 in the pecking order for targets with the Eagles while getting acclimated to a new offense. This move should allow Agholor to run more routes deep down the field, which we’ve been wanting to see for a while now anyway. For Detroit, Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay should both see an uptick in targets, so they’re both stronger fantasy options than they were before this trade. Tate is in a contract year, but we’d think the Eagles will look to re-sign him in the offseason.

Darren Fells catches one pass against the Steelers.
Fells’ lone reception in the Browns’ Week 8 loss went for six yards. The veteran tight end is a great real-life asset for the Browns, but he’s not on the fantasy radar right now.

The Texans are finalizing a trade for Demaryius Thomas, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
A mid-round pick is being sent back to Denver in exchange for Thomas, according to Rapoport. After Will Fuller went down with a season-ending ACL tear last Thursday night against the Dolphins, speculation began about the Texans potentially making a move for a wide receiver. Thomas now joins DeAndre Hopkins and rookie Keke Coutee as the top three receivers for Deshaun Watson. The veteran receiver will have to learn and get acclimated to Bill O’Brien’s offense, but this should turn out to be a boost for his fantasy value down the stretch. DT was a big part of the Peyton Manning-led offenses earlier in his career, and he was one of the best receivers in Broncos history. He was also on the receiving end of the 80-yard game-winning touchdown from Tim Tebow in the team’s playoff win over the Steelers in 2012. His Denver career ends with 665 receptions, 9,055 yards, and 60 touchdowns in eight plus seasons. This trade opens the door for rookie receiver Courtland Sutton to have a huge role over the final eight games of the season, and he’s obviously one of the top waiver adds this week if available in fantasy leagues.

O.J. Howard keeps it going as Bucs’ comeback attempt falls short.
Howard caught four passes for 68 yards, including what turned out to be the game-tying touchdown (following the two-point conversion) from 18 yards out. Unfortunately, Tampa Bay was bested on a last-second field goal, but Howard continues to enjoy a breakout campaign, as he cleared 62 yards in all three October appearances. The former Alabama star is a solid TE1 for next week’s matchup against the Panthers.
