Join now >Charles Clay catches three passes against the Patriots.
Clay gained 36 yards on his three receptions (six targets) in the Week 8 loss. It looked like the veteran tight end might have had a chance to make a relatively long catch early in the game, but he couldn’t quite get his hands on it. Clay is not a highly-recommended TE1 option in fantasy lineups right now.

Nick Chubb gets 18 carries in Browns’ loss.
Chubb gained 65 yards on his 18 attempts against the Steelers, who did a great job of limiting Cleveland’s rushing attack. The rookie running back from Georgia will look to have a bigger game next week against the Chiefs, but fantasy owners must hope the Browns don’t go away from the run game too much in an effort to keep up with Kansas City’s elite offense. However, Chubb is still an excellent option in fantasy lineups for Week 9.

Kelvin Benjamin catches two passes against the Patriots.
Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore shadowed Benjamin throughout the night, and he basically shut down the massive receiver. Benjamin was targeted seven times in the Week 8 loss, catching two passes for 45 yards; and one reception was a 40-yarder where Benjamin probably got away with a push-off. Veteran quarterback Derek Anderson appeared frustrated with Benjamin on at least one occasion, and the former first-round pick hasn’t quite played like a No. 1 receiver to this point in the season. He’ll look to have his first 75-yard game of the year next week against Chicago.

Peyton Barber operates as workhorse in 37-34 loss to the Bengals.
Barber rushed 19 times for 85 yards and a touchdown, as Jacquizz Rodgers saw just one carry, while Ronald Jones (two carries) left with a hamstring injury. It was the best game of the season for the Auburn product, who found the end zone on the ground for the first time this year and kept the offense afloat with Jameis Winston struggling. Barber should again handle the bulk of the carries in Week 9 regardless of Jones’ status, but he remains just a FLEX option on a volatile attack.

James White handles 18 touches in win over the Bills.
White rushed eight times for 15 yards and a touchdown, also adding ten receptions (on 13 targets) for 79 yards. The dynamic receiving back was actually out-carried by Cordarrelle Patterson (ten carries for 38 yards), but he’s been extremely productive this season with a 16-game pace of 110/918/12 as a pass-catcher alone. White should be heavily involved next week against the Packers in a potential shootout whether Sony Michel (knee) is active or not. Consider him a high-end RB2 in standard formats with a boost towards RB1 status in PPR leagues.

Baker Mayfield throws two touchdowns in Browns’ loss.
Mayfield was 22/36 for 180 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception along with one carry for nine yards against the Steelers, as the Browns drop to 2-5-1 on the season. The touchdowns were to Antonio Callaway (on a nicely-placed pass lofted deep in the red zone) and Seth DeValve (on a 24-yard pass with the game basically over). Next week, it’ll be interesting to see Mayfield face Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, as Mayfield and Mahomes combined for 14 total touchdowns when Oklahoma topped Texas Tech back in 2016. And with the way Mayfield carries a chip on his shoulder, you can bet he’ll be amped up and determined to try and knock off the quarterback that forced him to leave the Texas Tech program. Mayfield has QB1 upside against the Chiefs for Week 9.

Andre Holmes plays well in Week 8.
Holmes was targeted three times in the Bills’ Monday night loss to the Patriots, catching two passes for 45 yards. The two receptions went for 24 and 21 yards, as he did a great job on his opportunities. Holmes also laid out to attempt to stop a punt from going into the end zone for a touchback, so you love to see that type of effort from players. However, Holmes is a bette real-life asset for the Bills than a fantasy asset.
