In Beathard’s first start of the season for an injured Jimmy Garoppolo, he played well and helped San Francisco compete in LA against the Chargers. Beathard was 23/37 for 298 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions along with seven carries for 19 yards. The first score was the Kendrick Bourne off a play-action fake near the goal line, and the second score was an 82-yarder to college teammate George Kittle. Beathard put his body on the line, much like he did last season, which helps rally his teammates without their franchise quarterback. Beathard will look to lead the Niners to a win against the winless Cardinals in Week 5.

Baker Mayfield turns it over four times in first career start as Browns fall to the Raiders in overtime, 45-42.
Mayfield was 21/41 for 295 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, also adding four carries for ten yards and two lost fumbles. Cleveland was able to get a 28-14 lead thanks in part to a 49-yard catch-and-run by Darren Fells and then a two-yard fade to Jarvis Landry for Mayfield’s touchdowns, but Oakland caught fire over the final 16 minutes of regulation to tie the game and win in overtime. The No. 1 overall pick displayed an uncanny ability to avoid pressure in the pocket, but he obviously needs to take better care of the football if the Browns are truly going to compete for a playoff spot like many expect. Overall, Mayfield didn’t look overwhelmed in his first road start, but he returns home in Week 5 for a tough matchup against the Ravens next Sunday, so it’s best to keep him out of lineups. Looking ahead, he gets a cupcake stretch starting in Week 7 with games against Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Atlanta.

O.J. Howard has a sprained MCL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Howard is expected to miss two-to-four weeks with the injury, according to Schefter. The Buccaneers have a bye week this week, so it’s possible Howard makes a very swift recovery and can play in Week 6 against the Falcons. However, a Week 7 return against the Browns or a Week 8 return against the Bengals is more likely. If Howard does miss game time, Cameron Brate would be a TE1 option as the clear top tight end for the Bucs—especially because he has a very good connection with Jameis Winston.

Scott Simonson catches one pass in Week 4.
Simonson’s lone reception went for seven yards against the Saints. It was Simonson’s first reception since 2015 when he was with the Panthers, who the Giants play next week.
10/1/18 - 12:43 PM ET
Russell Shepard catches one pass against the Saints.
Shepard gained nine yards on his lone reception. If Cody Latimer remains out of the lineup, Shepard should continue getting a good amount of time on offense, but he’s not a reliable fantasy option.
10/1/18 - 12:40 PM ET
Rhett Ellison catches three passes against the Saints.
Ellison gained 29 yards on his three receptions (five targets) in the Week 4 loss. With Evan Engram (knee) week-to-week, Ellison is likely to remain the top tight end for the Giants in Week 5 agaisnt Carolina.
10/1/18 - 12:39 PM ET
Sterling Shepard scores in Week 4.
Shepard was effective and reliable for Eli Manning, catching all ten targets for 77 yards and a touchdown against the Saints. The score was a two-yarder, making it two straight weeks with a touchdown for Shepard. Through for games, the third-year receiver is on a 96/916/8 pace. He faces the Panthers in Week 5.
