C.J. Prosise | Buccaneers RB

C.J. Prosise (ankle) is inactive against the Redskins.

Prosise was expected to push through the ankle injury, but it isn’t happening today. The second-year back has only appeared in four games this season, getting 14 total touches so far. It’ll be Eddie Lacy, Thomas Rawls, and J.D. McKissic today versus Washington.

Ezekiel Elliott | Chargers RB

Ezekiel Elliott has been denied an emergency stay.

Elliott and the NFLPA tried to get it so the running back would be back on the field this Sunday against the Chiefs despite being denied a preliminary injunction last night, but Judge Failla also denied this (unsurprisingly). Elliott can still appeal to the 2nd Circuit court, and this is not over—it just looked extremely unlikely that he’ll be out there for Week 9. The Cowboys will probably go with Alfred Morris as their main runner, but Darren McFadden and Rod Smith will also work in and could emerge in the backfield.

Sammy Watkins | Free Agent WR

Sammy Watkins catches 67-yard bomb in blowout win.

It was his only reception of the game, but the deep touchdown that fantasy owners have been waiting for, as Watkins simply ran right past All-Pro safety Landon Collins and Jared Goff hit him in stride for six. It would be a surprise if Watkins didn’t dramatically improve on his 38/662/6 pace at the season’s midway point, especially with teams getting destroyed by Todd Gurley and the rest of the NFL’s highest-scoring offense, and he will look to make some more big plays next week against a Houston team that T.Y. Hilton just torched for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

AJ McCarron | Free Agent QB

Multiple reports: The Browns nearly acquired QB A.J. McCarron.

There are multiple outlets reporting that the Bengals and Browns agreed to the deal to send the 27-year-old quarterback to Cleveland; however, the Browns reportedly did not turn the paperwork in by the 4:00 PM ET deadline, despite the trade getting done at 3:55 PM ET, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Reports could be emerging to make the Browns look bad, which seems to be something media members love to do. But if this is true and the Browns just forgot to notify the league office of the trade, it’s pretty embarrassing. McCarron will spend the rest of the year with the Bengals, but keep an eye on the situation this offseason.

A.J. Green | Retired WR

A.J. Green has been ejected against the Jaguars.

Green was fighting with Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey and both players have been ejected. The normally calm receiver pretty much put a beating on Ramsey, including throwing a flurry of punches after putting him a chokehold. Before leaving, Green had one reception for six yards. It’s possible Green could be facing a suspension, but this happened in the first half, which could affect the NFL’s decision. Expect him to be on the field in Week 10 against Tennessee. To be frank, Ramsey appears to be a very annoying and arrogant player toward a lot of guys, and Green just decided he wasn’t going to take it after Ramsey shoved him for no reason.

Kelvin Benjamin | Free Agent TE

The Bills acquired WR Kelvin Benjamin from the Panthers, according to Adam Schefter.

This one is a shocker, as the 5-3 Panthers sent their number one receiver to their former defensive coordinator Sean McDermott and the Bills in exchange for a third- and seventh-round draft pick. McDermott got to watch Benjamin on the practice field every day, so he probably liked what he saw and wanted to bring him on to his playoff-contending squad. This move probably isn’t good for Benjamin’s fantasy value, especially for this week as the Bills play Thursday night against the Jets—he might not even be active for the game. However, there’s a chance quarterback Tyrod Taylor and Benjamin form a great connection quickly, leading to a sustainment of his fantasy value. On the Carolina side of things, Devin Funchess will now step up as the number one wide receiver, but this could mean even more targets underneath for running back Christian McCaffrey. Rookie Curtis Samuel should also see his snaps increase after this move, but he’s not a recommended fantasy pickup outside of deeper leagues.

Robert Woods | Steelers WR

Robert Woods scores twice in Week 9 win.

Woods caught four passes for 70 yards in a 51-17 win. The highlight of the day was a 52-yard catch-and-run on 3rd and 33 where he followed his blocks and sprinted through a New York team that didn’t seem very interested in tackling, and he also had a four-yard touchdown reception. They were his first two scores of the season, but at the midway point, Woods is on pace for a 62/902/4 line. He’s a decent FLEX option against Houston next week.
