Join now >The Dolphins are signing Adam Shaheen to a two-year extension.
Miami acquired Shaheen from the Bears before the season, and they have liked what they’ve seen from the former second-round pick. Shaheen was in a contract year, but this keeps him with the Dolphins through the 2022 season. The big tight end is more of a real-life contributor than highly recommended fantasy asset.

Christian McCaffrey (ankle) has been designated to return from injured reserve.
The belief is that McCaffrey will not play on Thursday night, but this move is an indication that he might get on the practice field and do something in limited practice/walkthrough work today and tomorrow, so perhaps he can make a push to play in a couple of nights. At the least, this is a promising sign for McCaffrey being ready to go in Week 9 versus Kansas City if he doesn’t play in Week 8. He officially has 21 days before he must activated to the 53-man roster.

The Ravens are signing Dez Bryant to their practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
This was reported to be happening last week, but the move is now official, and Bryant could eventually work his way to the active rose ray showing well in practice. Right now, Dez isn’t someone that needs to be added in 10- or 12-team leagues, but he could carry some FLEX appeal as a touchdown-dependent option.

Chris Godwin (finger) will miss Week 8, according to Rick Stroud.
Godwin fractured his left index finger on Sunday, and it required surgery, so he will be out this week for the Bucs. The news will boost Mike Evans closer to WR1 territory, and Scotty Miller should be viewed as an upside FLEX with rookie Tyler Johnson also seeing more action. Hopefully Godwin only misses one game—which we expect will be the case with a game against New Orleans coming up in Week 9.

Tyler Higbee (hand) is officially inactive for Monday night.
While Higbee didn’t practice for most of the week and was only limited on Saturday, this is a bit of a surprise. Gerald Everett should get a ton of playing time tonight and should be a solid TE1 option if you need a fill-in for Higbee.

Deebo Samuel (hamstring) will not play in Week 8.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan says Samuel will be out this week and will also likely miss Week 9 against the Packers, too, so consider the second-year receiver week-to-week. Keep in mind that the Niners have a Week 11 bye week, so perhaps Samuel will be held out through then if he’s not close to 100% for Week 10.

Kenyan Drake is expected to miss a few weeks with his ankle injury.
It’s reportedly a “slight tear of a ligament in his ankle,” and ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the Cardinals are treating it like a high-ankle sprain. Expect Drake to be placed on injured reserve (which would force him to miss at least three weeks) soon, but this could be an absence of several weeks. Chase Edmonds is an obvious must-pickup and potential fantasy RB1 moving forward if he happens to still be available in your league.
