Devin Smith | Panthers WR

The Texans signed Devin Smith to the practice squad.

Smith fits the mold of some of the other receivers Houston currently has on the active roster, so he could step into the lineup as an interesting deep threat at some point this season.

Maxx Williams | Free Agent TE

The Cardinals placed Maxx Williams (ankle) on injured reserve.

Williams will now miss at least the next three weeks while he deals with his ankle issue. The big tight end should stay on the waiver wire in redraft leagues.

KeeSean Johnson | Free Agent WR

The Cardinals activated KeeSean Johnson from reserve/COVID-19.

The NFL has done a remarkable job of not having huge COVID-19 issues despite not going to a “bubble” environment for the season. Johnson can re-join his teammates and contribute for Arizona moving forward.

Tevin Coleman | Free Agent RB

Tevin Coleman (knee) is expected to miss multiple weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The hits keep coming with the injuries around the league—and the Niners may have been hit the hardest yesterday. After the Week 2 win over the Jets, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Coleman was dealing with a knee issue, but this multi-game absence is worse than expected. San Francisco will be without both Coleman and Raheem Mostert this Sunday against the Giants, so Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson are expected to lead the backfield. Despite his upside when he gets back on the field, Coleman is not a must-hold in redraft leagues.

Tyrod Taylor | Jets QB

Tyrod Taylor (chest) missed Sunday’s game due to complications from an injection for his rib injury, according to NFL Network.

Taylor was planning to play with a flak jacket and wasn’t even on the final injury report for the Chargers, so at least any natural heart issues have been ruled out after being hospitalized. Los Angeles should be able to take things very slow with Tyrod until he is 100% based on what Justin Herbert showed in Week 2, but head coach Anthony Lynn has said the veteran will start when healthy.

Raheem Mostert | Raiders RB

Raheem Mostert (knee) is not expected to play in Week 3.

With the way injuries went over the weekend, this almost classifies as good news for fantasy owners that drafted Mostert. With the status of Tevin Coleman (knee) unknown, it’s possible Jerick McKinnon starts next week against the Giants. The waiver wire should be busier than ever over the next few days for fantasy owners trying to fill holes at running back.

Jimmy Garoppolo | Rams QB

Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) has a chance to play in Week 3.

There was thought that Jimmy G would miss at least one week with a high-ankle sprain, but head coach Kyle Shanahan now says that his starter will have a shot at suiting up because the injury isn’t that bad. Even if he plays, Garoppolo might be more of a low-end QB2 option against the Giants considering how banged up his supporting cast currently is. We’ll see how much practice he gets in this week.
